PS3 delima
« on: July 14, 2008, 10:06:03 PM »
So as some of you may know my PS3 cannot play PS2 games from the 2.4 patch. Everything is fine....except that

I called best buy with the 2 year replacement plan i have and what they do is replace the system

However, there are no more 60 or 80GB PS3's available. This means I can either get a 600 dollar credit back to my account......or get a 40GB PS3 and a PS2 and whatever else will fill up to 600 dollars

Any suggestions?

i'm not a console guy, but i was wondering since this system uses a standard hard drive, you can probably just get a 40gb one and swap it out for a larger drive.. most likely will void the warranty, but it's an option...

^does not void warranty....

It was made to be upgraded...and you can upgrade with any compatible drive unlike 360.. :P

Well I personally wouldn't go 40 becuz of the extra bells and whistles, aka, the 40gb more space, 2 usb ports, chrome finish and memory card slots...

But if u cud minus the 2 usb (u will need the 4 if u get rock band etc...)
> USB ports expandable via usb hub.... so doesn't matter...

Is all preference...
I would wait for the 80 as u not spending anything right now...

o i also read that Sony is doing free repairs for PS3's affected by 2.40 update...so give em a call..

^yea thise no scene...
Many people think that it would void warranty, or you need a proprietary drive...
its actually that simple and i did it already by just swapping my ps3 drive with my lappy drive...

do they have hard drives at best buy? if they do i suggest you take the 40GB and get a bigger hard drive as well. if you really want backwards compatibility then i think you should wait for the 80gb to reach
