Law and order and reusing actors

For a long time i thought i was imagining things, i really thought i saw law and order reusing actors for diff roles between episodes but i couldnt say for sure, and right now i watching a law and order lol

they arrest this girl for murder and have she in prison an ting, this same girl maybe 5 years older, is one of the detectives on the show, the womaniser detective partner lol i know i wasnt losing my mind.

Yeah they did that with alot of the actors.
Probably the most obvious was really early on when Jerry Orbach was playing a defense lawyer. Obviously this is the pre-Briscoe era.
