Olympic Torch handed to pro gamers

National Elf Service

By Nick Farrell: Monday, 21 April 2008, 8:40 AM

WHILE CHINA SEEMS to be spending a lot of its time and resources protecting the Olympic torch from being snatched by protesters, the sight of the flame seems to have softened its tough line on online computer games.

Once seen as the enemy of the people, and youth who had fallen under disreputable Western influence, professional gamers had been having a tough time of it behind the bamboo curtain.

Now it seems that is all a thing of the past and, thanks to a sponsorship deal with peripheral manufacturer Razer, professional Warcraft III players XiaoFeng "Sky " Li and Jae ho "Moon" Jang will both bear the torch as it passes through China en route to the Beijing National Stadium.

According to Joystiq.com, Sky is recognised as the world's best Human-class player, while Moon is one of the world's best Night Elf-class players. Both were selected by the Beijing Organising Committee for the Games.

You've got to start citing some references for your articles, man. I already know this from another site, but, if it wasn't there, a link would've been nice.

Either way, good for them. Don't really give a damn about World of Warcrap, but, if it gets you to hold the torch, then that's awesome.

So between the two of them the torch will make it what, about 100 metres before they start wheezing and need to rest?

Actually, the two of them look like they can manage. They certainly don't look like the stereotypical porkers that WoW players are portrayed as in the media.
