Playstation Network Problem
« on: July 23, 2008, 12:42:54 PM »
Hi,

To all Trinidadian PlayStation3 owners:

Does anyone have problems connecting to the PlayStation Store and the PlayStation Network from the PS3?

Can anyone else connect to them at all? If so, how?

I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can give.

Well we have over 20 persons here on the forum who are registered on the network and access it daily..

We signed up for the account directly on the PS3....
You can now do so from your pc if you wish...

You require a broadband internet connection to connect to the network.

Please give us the details on exactly why you can't access the network:
1.) Were you able to register for a PSN account on the PS3?
2.) What internet connection are you using
3.) Do you have an account and does it just doesn't sign in? What error message...
4.) Your network set up...that is routers etc...

Details:

1) yes I was able to get an account on ps3

2) Blink

3) I Have an account, it doesn't sign in. It says "Connection to Playstation network timed out"

4) 3 computers and ps3 on a switch from Advantech.

I tried opening ports from the online manual. Then tried some I saw on this forum (I haven't tested those just yet.)

Thank you for offering assistance. :)

hmmm...
And I assume you used to be able to access the network before?

I can't verify whether its with Blink due to me not using Blink.

So the problem may lie with the switch.
The funny thing though is that you were able to access the network and it randomly stopped working...

Firstly to isolate the problem: connect your blink connection, that is, the cable directly from your modem into the back to the PS3's ethernet port.
Go to network settings and select the easy option for the internet connection settings.
Try and see if it works.
Its supposed to work now, and this will verify the problem is not with Blink.
If it does not work, you'll need to get onto the Blink guys.
Hopefully one of the blink users on the forum will share what they know.

The other methods are:
On the PS3, go the system settings, and restore default system settings. (this will not erase anything on your system HDD)

When that is complete, go to network settings and set up your connection once more.
That is choose easy and wait for it to configure itself.

If it still does't work, manually enter an IP address for your PS3. That can be done by selecting manual instead of easy.
You will also need the switch configuration information. DNS etc..

Awaiting your feedback :)

Also whats your PSN ID?
So I can add you to the GATT PSN ID List located at:

have you disabled the firewall on tstt's end? if not call and tell them you want it disabled to run game etc you can do so now takes like 10 mins...

if you use torrents and they don't work/get few seeders either its a good indication that sum wrong with yuh ports, and prob tstt firewall on.

Ok. To TheApprentice:

I was never able to get on. I signed up on the PS3 but it never actually accessed the Network.

I tried direct connection from the PS3 to the modem. Nothing. Here's how it goes: I select sign in. It says "Signing in... Please wait." I wait a little while and then it says "The connection with PLAYSTATION Network timed out"
and that's it. I try the internet connection test and whe it reaches "PLAYSTATION Network" it says "Checking..." then "Failed" at the bottom it says "The connection with PLAYSTATION Network timed out." It's driving me crazy. LOL.

I called tstt and they said they don't support PS3 on their system so they can't help.

To Nephilim: I asked about shutting off firewall and the guy said his tool is down so I'll have to call back. I'll try agian and let y'all know.

Well for what it's worth, my PSN ID is:  Webion
