As if we needed more bad publicity. Now not only is T&T dangerous but we're also backward and ignorant.
Thank you to the Church!

hmm. archdeacon of trinidad and tobago?  who's he?

they refer to him as if he's some well-known cat, and speaks for a large congregation...

but they eh mention wha denomination...  so it implies that he has some weight in the country, and he speaks for all christians
but thas not the case...

*sigh*
Quote
but church authorities say his presence might tempt local people to become homosexual
seriously, if it were that easy we'd all be gay, or is it that they afraid he will have success where they failed, to 'convert'  people
i had read this in the papers sometime ago. Utter BullS--t!
And as i recall 'Let he without sin, cast the first stone', what right they have to say anything bout him, b/c in my experience is usually the last people, the church going people, you find are the ones who should be practicing what they preach, there are the exceptions, and i applaud them for doing something that i am SURE Jesus would appreciate, tolerance & understanding.

e.g.
Quote
As a dual citizen of T&T, I'm quite pleased to hear that the good people of Tobago are standing up for their beliefs at a time when Christians are becoming a persecuted minority in Britain, Europe and the US. I can't tell you how happy I am that the T&T immigration authority has the right to refuse entry to such people. I just hope Sir Elton begins to see the error of his ways before it is too late!

- Kris, Fife

i woulda clout he if i was there when he was typing that...

Elton John did once say that Christianity should be dismantled, so I guess this is the Church's way of saying, " NO, U!"

Yeah....believe it or not, there is actually a law stating that homosexuals can't enter the island. I came across it by mere chance a few days ago in the library.

But, to be honest.....looking to ban somebody just because he might turn people gay?
My, aren't we the prime examples of loving, accepting Christians? The same people who say, "Turn the other cheek", and "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." in the same breath, too.

All I'm saying is, if Elton's gay, that's his choice in life, and people shouldn't go all "HEE-HAAAWWWW HE ARE TURNING US INTO PHAGGOTS!!11" because of that.
All the man wants to do is play music. It's not as if he was going to parade with Mr. Slave on stage and give a live 'Lemmywinks' demonstration.

Christians are becoming a persecuted minority in Britain, Europe and the US.

......wait.....what?
Minority? In where?

Quote from: Wikipedia
However, in a private survey conducted in 2001 and mentioned in the Census Bureau's Statistical Abstract of the United States, 76.7% of American adults identified themselves as Christian

The most popular religions of Europe are the following:

Christianity

....mind you, Europe is also where the Vatican is.

Christianity was first introduced to Britain by the Romans. Officially, the UK remains a Christian country. This is reflected throughout British public life – for instance there is an established church in England and a national church in Scotland. The Head of State is a Christian monarch crowned by an Archbishop in Westminster Abbey. British society could be said to belong to the Judaeo-Christian tradition, and the majority of people in the UK, 72%, identify themselves as Christian.

.....yeah. The only thing I can't stand even more than a closed minded bigot is a closed minded bigot that doesn't even do his damn homework. Not since 9/11 could Christianity ever be a persecuted minority, or, at the very least, more persecuted than other religions. That last statement was pure rubbish, and then some.

Just for the record, though.....I don't exactly support Elton John, either.
You don't go saying that people's beliefs should be torn down just because they don't agree with your own. In a way, he's acting just like the people who are speaking out against him, which makes them -both- hypocrites.

What can you do to end the hunger?
It's no surprise that many will die with the coming shortage of food
When there is no grain to feed the butchered cows
When there is nothing to feed yourselves...
Then you will see that money can't be eaten.
