Why not just use
apt get
or better yet,
urpmiQoute from Google groups: "You can simply use your Mandrake discs for
install sources of course, but
a much better way is to go to:

http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon/urpmiweb.php

and follow the easy instructions to setup urpmi with all the sources you
need.  Then to install something instead of typing:

apt-get mozilla

just type:

urpmi mozilla  (or urpmi -v mozilla for verbose output, which I prefer)

It will go get the latest rpm that will work with your Mandrake version
along with any other packages necessary to satisfy dependencies, install
everything and you're set, just like apt-get.  If for some reason it
can't do the install, it tells you why.  It's very good, but like
apt-get of course not 100% perfect."> >
