Cooling Solutions / Home made H20 system
« on: February 12, 2008, 02:58:23 PM »
Hey guys.I made myself a homemade h20 system since I didn't really feel like spending so much on a name brand one..and I wanted to try it out .No pics right now but i'll upload when I get home.

It's an external system. The main unit/resevoir is a 4" wide, 15" long PVC pipe which is capped at the bottom. The water/coolant is stored in the pipe itself with the pump at the bottom of the pipe. The pump is a Sunterra 130GPH sub/pump.It's basically one of those pond/fountain pumps. The radiator is a 1/2" ID copper coil that goes around the pipe (on the outside of it).A 1/2" ID copper tube is run from the pump (At the bottom of the pipe) all the way up to the top where a hose mates it with the copper coil which runs down the pipe.Cooling the radiator is achieved but 4x 80MM fans being run down the side of the 4" Pipe. The fans are supported by a 6" PVC pipe which slips over the 4" Unit.Im using a Swiftech Apoggee GT Waterblock and some RO'ed water mixed with car coolant. On idle I get ~30C and load (COD4/NFSC) I get ~40C.The fans themselves are weak: only one spins at a decent rate while the other 3 are whisper quiet/even weaker.I want to put some 120MM instead and give it a go.Ill post pics later tonight!!

Cost:
Copper Coil: $200
PVC: $20
Fittings,Hoses,PVC Glue: ~$150
Waterblock: ~$300
Pump: $270!!! (The most overpriced component of this system IMO.I could've gotten a bigger pump for almost $100 less but this was my first time and the bigger pump wouldn't fit in the pipe)

Total: ~$1,000

I have a home made H20 system. It's basically a 4" wide, 15" long PVC pipe with a copper coil going down the sides with fans on them. The water (Water/Coolant) goes in the pipe then out to the coils which wrap around the 4" pipe.Think if I just direct the speaker in the water it will work???

You people are forgetting how weak the Geforce 7 series really is for an 'upgrade'  it still occasionally gets beat by the X850 XT PE    , ati just has to surpass itself a bit to best nvidia .

Eh hemm....*clear throat*.....this is not true..you must admit that the 7 series is strong..beating 2 6800 Ultr's in SLI an all.....also,since the ATI X series flagship will perform the same as the GTX...wouldn't you say the same for ATI>hence being "weak"?

Also, ATI playing the clock game here..nvidia didn't even stack to jack up the clock speeds yet...

yay!!!!!!!!!!!......................not really>not until i could buy one
