After more than six decades of research, the first atom-powered airplane is cleared for takeoff. Although details of the project remain classified, a description of this remarkable aircraft has begun to emerge from technical conferences and declassified engineering studies. The plane will be both familiar and unique. Familiar in that it will resemble a Northrop Grumman Global Hawk, the bulbous-nosed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that the U.S. Air Force has used to track enemy movements in Afghanistan and Iraq. Unique because its nuclear reactor is unlike any other. Rather than split heavy elements or fuse light atoms--as in fission and fusion reactors--it will use what is known as a triggered isomer reaction. If this new powerplant, called a quantum nucleonic reactor, performs as scientists expect, its effect on the aircraft industry may prove as revolutionary as the introduction of the jet engine.

you can also use dis cheap tactic

tell your friend yur "optimising the settings for increased visual performance " , turn up the graphics to HI and res to 1600x1200. Watch as he finally builds his barracks after the first 15 min .

if u are networked then it is impossible for 1 system to move faster than another it is generally known that the network game is only as fast as the slowest machine....otherwise u wil encounter a "mismatch" so that tip is USELESS

Ole Talk / Video Games Proven to Sharpen Minds!
« on: June 08, 2004, 08:56:46 AM »
All those hours spent playing video games may not be wasted time after all.

A new study published in this week's issue of the journal Nature suggests action-packed video games such as "Grand Theft Auto III," "Counter-Strike" and "Spiderman" may sharpen your mind.

Researchers at the University of Rochester in New York studied young adults who played video games full of high-speed car chases and blazing gunbattles several times a week for at least six months.

They found that the video game players showed better visual skills than young adults who didn't play the games. For example, they kept better track of objects appearing simultaneously and processed fast-changing visual information more efficiently.

Researchers say they've ruled out the possibility that visually adept people are drawn to video games in the first place. People who don't normally play the games were trained to play them, and they also showed better visual skills. The team said 10 hours of training on "Medal of Honor" is enough to improve a range of visual skills.

"Therefore, although video-game playing may seem to be rather mindless, it is capable of radically altering visual attentional processing," the researchers said.

Video games could be used to help visually impaired patients see better, or to train soldiers for combat, researchers say. But parents and anti-violence groups say some violent games trigger aggressive behavior

CORSAIR HAS FASTER MEMORY in the works, and that is good news for all gamers. The new parts fall under the XL series, and have aggressive 2-2-2-5 timings, reminiscent of the old, much lamented Winbond BH-5 chips. The new parts should clock to 500MHz if you cut the timing back to 2.5-3-3-7, so could be good for overclockers as well as latency fetishists.

804.2 kilobits per second  P.O.S.
804.2 kilobits per second How communication devices are rated. Kilo means 1,000 and mega means 1,000,000. Examples include 56k modem and 10Mbit Ethernet
10.4 seconds The time it would take you to download a 1 megabyte file at this speed.
