Bollywood jumps on HD technologyClaims technology cheaperBy Nick Farrell: Wednesday 30 May 2007, 10:35Click here to find out more!BOLLYWOOD HAS released the first film in HD technology which it claims will cut costs.Hindi film 'Dharam' which was shown off at Cannes used a high-end video camera which was expensive camera and hard to find in India.S Nallamuthu, the film's photography director said that despite the limited facilities available for post-production and conversion, the format can drastically cut down costs and act as an effective counter for piracy.The film got a lot of attention at Cannes because of its technology. He was able to do a lot of the editing in the camera and could cut down on the number of retakes required.Most theatres in India do not have digital projection systems, the digital shots have to be transferred to film by using a film recorder that will print digital image data to film and create a 35mm negative.Out of the several mainstream Hollywood films that have been shot on HD include blockbusters like 'Star Wars Episode,' 'Collateral,' 'Superman Returns' and 'Apocalypto'.
