Hello Everyone,
Well, now that the Official Playlist for AC7 has been released everyone can rest easy, plan their day and look forward to a very fun time with their friends at Anime City. With the blowout sale planned for the Mall (brand new DVDs costing as little as TT$50??!!), the Yu-Gi-Oh Showdown and the Cosplay - not to mention a full SEVEN screens - how can you not??!!! We have pulled out all the stops to ensure that this is THE BEST Anime City ever. And there's a very good reason for that ...
As we have hinted before, this may be the VERY LAST Anime City to be produced by Genesis in Trinidad. The organisation of these very exhaustive shows is so intensive, so time-consuming, so all-encompassing in its coordination, it has been taking a toll on the volunteers who make up the Genesis Foundation. We thank them all for their fine contributions and are working just as hard to lighten their load in future projects. But we must listen to their pleas.
In addition, our foreign commitments (as well as other charity projects) have been taking up quite a bit of our time and resources. While we receive wonderful help from US & Japanese animation studios, most of the expenses for Anime City events still fall squarely on our shoulders - and with many, many new undertakings each month, we just have to prioritize - and Anime City may be a casualty of this restructuring.
We know most of you look forward to the shows and will be angry with us for even thinking about implementing this decision but we feel strong enough about this to throw out the idea for debate amongst everyone on this list. Maybe one suggestion might be to scale back the enormity of the show, but this will only allow fewer people to enjoy the wonders of Anime City. There are a few other ideas which we have kicked about but each one seems to limit the mass involvement of fans that has become the trademark of Anime City shows.
So, how can we forestall this show from being the FINAL ANIME CITY - please send us your opinions on the matter.
Anime City continues to break new ground and sell out each and every show in record time but we still always need to hear from our REAL bosses - the fans who make up our audience and who have always taken the time to share their thoughts on how we can make Anime City better.
Please continue to send us your suggestions, opinions, criticisms, whatever on the future of Anime City.
God willing, maybe we can work together to keep the legend alive.
