I have my drivers next month and I'm doing manual.
However when I was in America I was driving Manual I just never got around to getting my regulations.
Anyways I'd choose manual because:
a) like the old saying goes; once you can drive manual you can drive anything.
and
b) I usually fall asleep during vehicular motion for some weird reason (planes, boats, road vehicles) so because you have to change gears and so on it can keep me awake.

Just for the record too I'd rather drive manual, left hand drive....

Lol for reaaaal. What? I think he means he uses gear 1 and 2 at takeoff and put it in drive after. It's quite an experience driving manual, though, to me, I feel like i really driving, like i'm in total control of that b1tch, a feeling that just does not come from transmissions.

From all I know... I think you're going to f**k up your transmission like that. So I've been told by a few mechanics... but I can't assure you of that.

What can you do to end the hunger?
It's no surprise that many will die with the coming shortage of food
When there is no grain to feed the butchered cows
When there is nothing to feed yourselves...
Then you will see that money can't be eaten.

i use my gears for cornering and of course uphill asention

i mean, thats what they are there for.

Also, as part of defensive driving, i use my gears for gear assisted braking.

shifting down allows me to slow down a great deal with out having to wear down teh brakes.

Of course you dont jus shift into first or second while gunnin dong de road @ 180 or something, yu will most definately fork up yur transmission that way.

what i do , is while taking a corner i gear down, so i dont have to use my breaks and risk flipping over or skidding, and while approaching traffic or say a traffic light while iam going between 60 and 80, ill drop it into 2nd and slow to under 60, then use my breaks till i come to a stop, then gear back up to drive.

They teach you this in defensive driving.
works really well

i also am a real stickler for turning off my OD when iam under 60 and then kicking it back on once i pass 60.

Once yu know your car well enough, you can tell when the od makes no difference, so just swith it off.
in my car, that is under 60

All that involved in defensive driving? I thought it was just about making sure pple and pets are secure, staying in your own lane etc etc. All that gearing down thing in an automatic. I mean, for one to flip while taking a corner, one will have to be going like 50/60.

With that said though, if/when I get my hands on a solid 4WD Hilux, manual ftw! (and I will ACTUALLY make use of that 4WD goin offroad, unlike 90% of those posers who getting them cuz they look nice :P)

hmmmm....like insead of going around the roundabout, you'll go through it. Yeah, having an automatic vehicle sucks. My friend took out his transmission, pitched that in the bush and put in manual. Hmmmm, the power of chainup.
