normally don't keep icons on the desktop..

though i on the look out for a nice OSX-like dock...

What distro & version are you running?

You have a few options for docks, you could do like me and use the cheap version that I have, which is a panel that's transparent at the bottom.

Then there's a dock applet for gDesklets (http://www.gdesklets.org) gDesklets really sucks but that applet works fine for it and its the easiest solution. I can't remember where to find the applet. Look around for it.

Then there's two really nice ones that take some tweaking.

Gnome Dock (http://www.gnome-dock.org/trac) which looks nice, but needs some crazy dependencies like xgl/compiz

Akamaru (http://people.freedesktop.org/%7Ekrh/akamaru.git/) which looks freekin amazing but which is difficult to setup. (I don't yet know how git works)

I'm pretty simple when it comes to desktops ftw. Used to have lots of differing anime shots but I kinda think simple is best of late. So here's my rather simple desktop. I also don't like clutter and I consider this what I am showing somewhat cluttered as is...

I would really like to know what ppl on gatt have AGAINST THUMBNAILS!!!!! GG even on a 'broadband' connection this thread took LONG to load. Have some pity for the dial up men... speaking of that I putting a warning on the topic.
