Aero runs in the background FULL STOP

I am actually surprise at this bit of info i'll say what I find interesting after the article:
Quote
Aero floats in the background

In 3D Vista games

By Fuad Abazovic: Thursday 19 October 2006, 12:37

MANY readers asked us what happens with Vista 3D scores when we turn the Aero glass off.
Many suggested that you need to render this 3D desktop all the time, even when in a game. They were right. The 3D desktop will run even when you play Half Life 2 or any other game.

We tried it and we even forced the game back to desktop and learned that game + Vista eats 1.35GB of memory but Aero glass works perfectly. It does not swap from the hard drive, it just works.

We tried to turn off Aero glass 3D interface to see if we can get some better performance. Well, we didn't. We got the same performance as with Aero turned on. µ

So yeah, it performs the same even though its more work... hmm maybe MS DID finally get some things right... now to just to find a way to lower that DAN 1.35GB of memory to play games or else we're THOROUGHLY FC^&ED for games liek BF that ALREADY beg for 2G from the get go...

Microsoft had a display of Vista at the DigitalLife conference. Those machines were running with 2 gigs of ram. At least with 2 gigs it ran smoothly.

DSI you'll be able to use a 'classic' version, or at least someone will make a mod to remove it.

All the more reason to make sure your Vista system has at least 2 Gb of RAM, or else you may get some issues.

Just put me down as thinking its absolutely crazy talk that this OS will need 2GB of ram to run without issue.

Well, I have tested it at LENGTH with 512, 1024 and 2048 MB of RAM (using some games), and I can tell you, running it with 512 is not an option.  Thats fine for XP, but wont cut it with Vista.  It runs more comfortably with 1 GB, but I've gotten no memory issues when using 2 GB.

Less RAM means more page file usage, and we all know what THAT means, BUT the ReadyBoost feature can make up for lost ground though.
