Superman or Batman

I should have pointed this out before...and I'm really sorry that I didn't.
But aside the fact that I was bored as f***....I only wanted to get persons' critiques on the two heroes...and not based on their, abilities....but also on their characteristical aspects as well as their personal lives.
In other words; which one of these heroes are better to the point that you can relate to. Yes they have combat talents...but that alone doesn't make a superhero....

I mean look at Spidey for example...he has what I would call a unique fighting style and unorthodox abilities....however I like him better than all other heroes because I can relate to the son of a b****..

I mean he has peer pressure problems, he's sometimes shy and he makes outta timing remarks...but most of all, whatever obstacles and problems are thrown at him, despite the odds....he never gives up.

i hate threads like this, you have to wade through a dozen silly posts before finding one or 2 worthwhile points

Basically like mentioned before I just wanted to get output on whom you find better and not just in terms of powers and abilities.

I like Superman because he's patriotic, he has ideals, he has a damn cute cousin, he dated Lana and she looked hot. He fought with Doomsday, which was probably one of the most destructive battles ever and when you think about it he has the second best costume in by watch....(my favorite superhero costume is Spidey's)

I like Batman because he keeps to himself, he's a loner (dispite having sidekicks) and he doesn't get involved with to many personal issues, he has cool gadgetry, awesome vehicles, a great butler and fatherfigure. Most of all I favor him because he has that dark and intimidation feeling. Something that strikes fear into the hearts of cowards and so forth..

All and all though I like both of them.....and off the topic....there are some people that claim that Batman Begins and Superman Returns suck....so to the people that say such blsphemy all I can say is....

Superman has no reason or true motive for what he does, the only thing i can think is the it may be because he has the power to do so.

Without reason or purpose ( yes i take that from Mr. Smith)  he acts as a unstoppable fighter of justice. Even though he is a kryptonian we are suppose to look at him from a human perspective, which makes him completely unbelievable, no human can ever be like that, and to say that’s y he's a superhero, is fanboy talk

Batman however flawed, had a vengeful reason for doing this, which makes him relatable to the audience, which relates an important idea that i doh think the general audience always gets: that everybody can make a differences

personally i wouldnt wanna strive to become a dark hateful alley loving murderer.

but i would want to become a symbol of hope(thats with the s stands for, its the kryptonian symbol for hope), i would want to become strong, both physically and morally, to protect the weak and the ones i love, to uphold justice and peace.


Dont get me wrong, i have my dark side, and i love it very much
but i will never lose my desire to better myself to protect and support those i love and those in my care. That is what the man of tomorrow stands for, and iam not saying that i can have his powers, but iam saying that what he stands for is something very admirable to strive towards.

He is a true ICON.

There has to be someone like superman to stand for the good of the world and to fight for it, just as there needs to be someone like batman who fights the dirty fight, the underground fight, for the same purpose.

But never forget what happens when someone like superman becomes someone like batman.

Bats...hands down.  I've never really liked Superman.  He's always been just a tad too squeaky clean for me.  Batman doesn't mind getting his hands dirty to get a job done.  The only time I've seen that from Superman is on Justice League as the Justice Lords.  I actually didn't mind Superman then. 

Batman has the Kryponite ring for Superman...should he need it.  PLUS, my wife likes Superman...so that already makes him suck!

Who's more badass?
Batman in a heartbeat. He takes on foes that can completely anihilate him, up against odds he should have no business going up against, and succeeds. The very definition of badass. Superman is physically superior, so it's not that it's badass to go up against super human foes, it's expected.

Who's more effective?
Oh touchy. Superman's more immediate. a sinking ship - bam! floating towards the harbour in the air. That's superman. Superman rules by trust. It takes ages to create, and only one episode to break. Batman rules by fear. Fear works wonders for him. He's more methodical, and his methods include insane plans - for example uniting all organised crime in one spot to rid all bosses (wargames, the loss of Stephane).

Rogues gallery?
let's see, superman has Kara and Krypto. Krypto is possibly better at tracking down crap than superman "nothing can beat a superdog with a keen sense of smell" - Batman, Hush.
Bat's gallery includes Tim Drake and Nightwing, Oracle (aka batgirl crippled) who ends up supplying info for the JL as well. And of course a certain ex-british operative that changed his diapers.

In a fight?
Superman can kill Batman. No shit! But firstly, neither man will kill. Hell the only one that's willing to kill out of the big 7 is probably wonderwoman - and the old lantern turned yellow, Guy Gardener.
Anyone know the old D&D tennant? who's gonna win in a fight? mage vs barb? oh if they're far, the mage has a good chance, if they're close, the mage is in trouble. If batman prepares - an he ALWAYS does (shouldn't HE be called the boyscout??) then he stands a DAMN good chance of crippling superman so he can get, or disable him.

The most important thing about those 2 fighting is that Batman's character is described as being prepared to do whatever it takes. In Hush, he fought superman. Superman was under the spell of poison ivy, and obeying her commands. Batman came in to save Catwoman from ivy, ivy brought in Superman. The DC portrayed the fight as superman is predictable. Batman ran instead of staying and fighting as superman expected. He found the tunnels lex luthor made to hide, and set up traps there. "You dont go to Metropolis and NOT be prepared for him". He stated superman CAN run him into the pavement with his speed, but superman WONT. He hammered superman with the kyrptonite ring, blinded him with flash explosions, Shocked superman with the metropolis grid, and dazed him with sonic weapons. For the grand hurrah, as he escaped above ground, and superman recovered and followed, He merely pointed at catwoman as planned, tossing Lois off a roof. Save her or finish me. Your call. Whatever it takes right?

In Dark night returns, He took superman apart piece by piece. Noone doubt's Clark's intellect, but his use of it. Superman had set off a nuke from Russia in the atmosphere. Superman may have KNOWN about what the consequences were, but he didn't think of it at the time. The EMP blacked out the us, and dust and ash blocked out the sun. Superman is played up as someone who'd follow the law (lawful good?) He's working for president Luthor. Given up his identity, to continue saving lives - as has wonderwoman and captain marvel. Batman has not. He works on his own. Luthor tells superman to take him out - cant have open defiance, most heros are captured or in hiding (think, "the incredibles"). The Fight went like this. Batman had a field that prevented scans over gotham. Gov't ordered superman to look for him using xray vision, which triggered hunter missiles that homed in on him, tossing him around weakening him (no sun remember?). A new Robin shot him up with a tank (kryptonian design), and Oliver fired a krytonite arrow at him. Batman in a suit powered by the city at the age of 65 stood his ground and fought superman, sonic weapons, acid in his eyes and face, and taking a beating himself. At the end of th fight, he had superman's jaw, pinned under his foot. "I want you to remember Clark, In all the years to come, In your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat, I want you to remember, the man who beat you". ThenHe killed himself. Clockwork. A pill he took that gave him a heartattack (and 3 days later restarted his heart).


As far as comics go, It depends. My favorite comics are usually teamups. I got a few in case anyone wants em.

yes of course the bat man fans always bring up batman returns

never bothering to make note of the fact that it wasnt in canon timeline, it was a sort of what if, with alot of things happening in favour of batman winning the fight. Small ting doh.

If there was an actuall fight in canon time line, and superman wanted to win, he would.

Notice beo didnt mention in the  synopsis of dark knight bout how superman called bats out for a challenge by floating in the upper atmosphere and using his heat vision to blaze a message unto bruce's lawn where he was standing. The challenge was where and when.

Now if supes had wanted to end bats, that would have been it right there, just cut him to pieces from the upper atmosphere way out of sight but meh, small ting once again.

I never said supes was believable you know, not 100% but him being an alien with powers fighting other aliens or other powered beings is alot more probable or believable than a mere mortal fighting off hordes of powered beings.

But I do state superman's clear superiority. He could kill batman, but he just wont. DC pits batman as someone who believes he's ready to do whatever's necessary to get the job done. I dont see what's wrong mentioning non-canon as it's all pretty pictures and a good story
