Well realistically, if you wanna get multiplayer playtime in, now would be the best time...because when November comes, Resitance 3 will be a ghost town.
Well, maybe end of october when BF3 hits lol.

This is frickin ridiculous..

*Pops in Resistance 3*

Update 1.02  -  676mb   :shakehead:

Seriously... 1.3gb of updates within 2 days of release? Not cool insomniac...not cool.

They probably included update 1.01 in 1.02...But I mean, "Delta Updates". aka Update what needs to be updated.
This also sucks for Canadians with data caps  :ko:

LMFAO
but in all honesty what did u expect? when u have a beta a month before the game releases they will not put the beta fixes on disc, no time for that so they just work on a day 1 patch. I knew the patch would have been big if R3 had alot of problems that needed fixing in the beta and it did, lol the beta ended the 4th, game released on the 6th seriously those 2 patches were beta fixes lol

socom did it as well.

See Uncharted had their beta MONTHS before the final game released? u wont expect a big day 1 patch because all the beta fixes have enough time to be working into the final build.

In my opinion that's not a bad strategy, if they were looking to release the game on schedule. Since final production can actually take months. This way, they get to do production and beta at the same time, then release the game earlier (or without a delay).
We may actually see other studios do it in the future.

It's a bad trend, brought on I'm sure by the publishers, who want to make SURE
that the game comes out when they say...and expect the dev-team to 'wuk a magic'.

Absolutely ridiculous.

If game publishers weren't so HUNGRY, this kinda S#!t wouldn't happen.

ummm............wat?
socom still had a delay of about 7months and dropped the beta a month before release and the game shipped BROKEN. no party system at launch........we got a party system 3 months after release, sorry but that is crap.

no one wants to spend 20mins installing patches for a game they now crack open.

by doin things the way zipper and insomniac did their betas it setting a bad trend, its sayin meh its ok to ship a broken game we'll patch it up later

socom confrontation is another high profile messup. they spent the next year after release of that game patching and fixing what should have been patched via beta, they even had features advertised on the box that didnt get patched in till a year after.

Now take a look at what EatSleepPlay did with twisted metal.......they KNEW damn well the game wouldnt be ready by october so they delayed the game till 14th feb next year instead to give them time to fix shit

personally i blame sony. They leaving themselves with little room to actually push back games when they have so many coming out all at once or within a few months of each other. KZ , socom, Resistance all high profile PS mp exclusives all had launch problems that should have been fixed if they released a beta a few months before the actual release.

Watch how silky smooth Uncharted gonna run at launch.

headset review
seems it is indeed "virtual surround sound" but as suspected its of an inferior standard to those headsets that actually license dolby processing technologies

Quote
In terms of three-dimensionality, the Wireless Stereo Headset is a little lacking. Sony utilizes their own simulated 7.1 surround sound audio processing to drive audio through the headsets two 40mm drivers, but it doesn't provide the kind of directional detection of those who license Dolby processing technologies. You get the general gist of what direction a sound source is coming from, but it falls into a much wider area rather than the almost pinpoint accuracy of higher quality headsets.

knew they had to be a catch with the headset.
should have mine on monday or so

Quote
Despite looking pretty slick in official product shots, the production version of the headset leaves much to be desired. The framework is thin and easily malleable. Though I obviously didn't try, I'm fairly confident I could crack the frame with only moderate force.

In reality, users are unlikely to deliberately try to break their $99 investment, but it doesn't bode well for long-term durability of the product.

did indeed noticed they looked a bit fragile, handle with care those who invest their money into it

Spend 30 US more and get a proper (and WAY more versatile) headset, please?

Your wallet will thank you later.  More than a year later mine still works,
and nothing worn, or broken.  I can see many people breaking this Sony headset
just a few months down the line.

If I have to recommend a wireless gaming headset, I'd of course say PX5, but at roughly 200 US, that might be a hard price to justify for most.  There's also the wireless PX3, which is essentially a PX5 without the voice prompts and digital audio processor, but if you're going to buy both, I'd actually recommend the PX5, as the
overall package is better.

If you want wired, there's the Tritton AX720, Tritton AX Pro, and Turtle Beach DPX21

All great alternatives for just a little more.

Don't be taken in by Sony with this jus come, feeble attempt at gaming audio.

I see no mention of the Sharkoon in that line up. (which has been on my wish list for some time)

http://www.amazon.com/Sharkoon-X-Tatic-Surround-Not-Machine-Specific/dp/B003H4QIC0/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1315689906&sr=1-1

How would that fare in your best estimation at a reasonable US$139.99?

Its true Dolby

Its true Dolby

just because its true dolby doesnt automatically make it better than virtual surround sound eh.

Many reviews out there have given VSS the slight nod over true for gaming headsets
the part where True always shines tho is in the bass as VSS lack that sub channel to pump out heavy bass, but for me its not a problem, i play mp mainly so i wanna hear clear sounds that not drowned out by heavy bass, when i had my Tritton AX Pros i actually found myself lowering the sub all the way down when playin mp.

but yea i agree with arc if u want a really good WIRELESS one then go with the PX5
a good headset is like an investment, i didnt think twice about spending 250US on my astros cuz i know it will last me and so far was well worth the plunge

quick quick headset review

Surround sound: doesnt come near the astros in quality, its ok but when u try a premium headset surround sound out these dont match up

Comfort: excellent , could walk round d house all day with this on an never take it off

Durability: if ur a fella da does treat ur equipment rough stay away, my head isnt exactly small and with d addition of d ras i sometimes fear that if i stretch them too much it might break lol, but bear in mind this is coming from someone that broke 2 staplers in 2 weeks so maybe im just prone to breakin these kinda tings

Overall: sound is good better than the TB PX21 and with the gimmicky surround sound it still worth it more than a standard stereo headset PLUS it wireless and we all know ppl hate wires. Not too bad and bess like the more expensive ones but it does the job just be careful with the handling of it and yuh good to go. Wireless + Price is the selling point i would say for this. If wires arent a problem for u then i would recommend one of the others mentioned before like the Trittton AX 720, AX Pros or Sharkoon and if price isnt a problem then the TB PX5 (wireless) or Astro A40s (wired and wireless versions)

Right now im using it on the PC, liking it , wont have to keep switching the astros from ps3 to PC and once everything setup ill also be able to use this on d old PS3 for when ppl come over, LAN sweat immc :D

You don't have to switch it between PC and PS3?

Are you saying it works on both at the same time??

must admit, not looking forward to having wired headsets in the living room. Let alone two. (since I intend to get one for both the wife and I, for late night movie watching)

So you make a good point with the wireless.

Still, it sounds a little meh-ish from your review.

How much would you score it out of 10?

Nah he means that he now has a headset for each purpose. The astros and the PlayStation one.

damn. I'd buy that for a dollar.

Multiple input into one wireless headset.

Have it connected to my laptop in mumble while simultaneously connected to my PS3 in Uncharted 2 or Killzone 3.

Instant kick ass group chat for PSN. lol

ent.. is it bluetooth it using to do wireless? i find in this day and age it should be a no brainer to have multiple inputs (seeing as the standard bluetooth headsets supporting it)
