nope no problems here... I've signed in about 2 hrs ago and a few mins ago.
And alot of my friends are online... might be something on your end.

lol @ ken overload.

Tried it on my blink connection, worked fine.

switched back to flow, errors galore. (fails connection test on NAT, very strange)

Not sure what went wrong with the flow modem.

I'll try again tomorrow.

I really hoping for that 2.70 update...
Was looking forward to it today and the big news was a $99USD PS2.
I mean its a great thing as PS2 sales will no doubt splurge, but man that should not have been the "BIG" announcement they were hyping up.

PS 2.7 Firmware released.....at least it has text chat....still waiting on Voice Chat *sigh*

Main features in system software update version 2.70

* Text chat

You can now do text chat with people on your Friends list. You can also participate in text chat during gameplay with people who are playing the same game as you, or a different game.

Other new or revised features in version 2.70

Settings

* [Dynamic Normalizer] has been added as an option under [Music Settings].

Game

* You can now easily search the Internet for information about your PLAYSTATION®3 format software, as well as for games you purchased from PlayStation®Store. Select the icon for the game, and then select [Internet Search] from the options menu to get search results based on the game title.

Network

* You can now copy and paste text from a Web page viewed in the Internet browser.
* [Copy Address of This Page] and [Copy Address of This Link] have been added as options under [File] in the browse mode menu of the Internet browser.
* [Browser Security] has been added as an option to the browse mode menu of the Internet browser. The websites for the Web filtering services that used to be listed under [Bookmarks] have been moved under this new option.

Friends

* The order in which Friends are listed in the Friends list has been changed. When you have pending requests to add Users as Friends, the icons for these Users are now displayed at the top of the Friends list.
* The maximum size for files that can be attached to messages has been increased to 3MB.

yep, lame that they didn't add the voice chat functionality....
But its confirmed that it is in development.

And this will suffice. Works really well.
Love the little ticker in the corner that tell u every message.

The problem i have though is the limit to the length of each message. (obviously for the entire message to fit in the corner notification),
Its just kinda stupid that u cant complete a sentence lol, need to send like 3 messages to complete it. BUT at least someone not currently in the chat room will see the entire message.

and most overloooked feature COPY AND PASTE!
Works wickedly good in the browser! and pastes throughout the XMB. (in messages, chat etc..)

ah didnt know if u went back an check d blog on da cross game chat comment i posted recently buy CydoniaX corrected herself an said she was not talkin bout cross game chat being in development she was mainly talkin bout game launching an stuff about home nothin pertainin to da xmb

Ah well... It's still no doubt going to be done, it's the next most requested feature from in-game xmb... And it's only logical to follow up on cross game text chat with voice.

well tbh we shud not hav expected a big feature like cross game chat in a minor firmware update
HUGE features usually come with da whole digit upgrades
if by firmware 3 things not in place den we cud say dey stickin baaad
