just FYI, consoles are supposed to have an 80 percent reliability when sent from the factory. The 360's started at 40 percent...which is ridiculous..... went up to 60 and is now supposedly back to 80 percent with the Jasper.

I had a 60GB PS3 with hardware backwards compatibility that is supposed to be the "good" one....the cell processor was damaged after the crossbar update on Playstation online (called SONY gave then the diagnosis of the PS2 games not reading and this was the reply). I was lucky and managed to use my Best Buy warranty, scour the best buy stores in my area for a couple weeks and managed to land a 80GB backwards compatible MGS4, with a 100 rebate (since my previous PS3 was 600 US to the 500 US one, which i renewed the warranty on again)

It is claimed that the 60GB version is 90 percent backwards compat. compared to the 60 percent on the 80GB...this is wrong. They are both 90+ percent with the concurrent software updates the PS3 is always doing. This is is you care for backwards compat. There are a couple that arent supported on both versions simply because some companies (like Akklaim for Burnout 2) no longer exist (at least as they used to)

BEANCOUNTERS at Nielson have uncovered some interesting holes in the perception of the brains of most people in the gaming industry. Conventional wisdom is that the Wii is played more and the PS3 actually is used by anyone.

However the Nielson study unlocks some strange new facts. Firstly the Nintendo Wii is played less than the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 is played less than the original Xbox.

The most-played console in the US was not the Wii, but the much earlier Playstation 2.
It is the first study that has actually looked at useage of the console that users have in their living room.

It would appear that while punters might have a Wii or Xbox 360 the console least likely to gather dust is the PS2 which is used by 31.7 per cent of Americans. Next on the list was the Xbox 360 at 17.2 per cent, the Nintendo Wii was third at 13.4 per cent.

The poor PS3 was at 7.3 per cent well behind the original Xbox which was 9.7 per cent.

The Nintendo GameCube made the list at 4.6 per cent and the remaining amount was grouped in to the "Other" category and accounted for 16.2per cent. The Nintendo DS or the Sony PSP were not included in the research.

It means that despite the fact that the Wii sells more, it is actually used less and once you have bought a PS3 you will probably play your PS2 a lot more.

its really funny where these people get this sample information from.
I was in Gamestop today for about 20 minutes. In that time about 10 people (called and walked into the store) asking about the PS2 and if the PS2 version they sold comes with Blu Ray......yea

Uneducated gamers....trying to buy a game from a "fanboy" who works at gamestop. (go into that detail later)

Not to mention the store owners try to sell the PS2 (for commission) from the second a person shows interest in ANY console...doesnt matter what. So "yea its the cheapest and its got the most games and people still makes games for it" all of this is true. The stats are most likely true as well though, just where they get the data from may be of interest as well.

sony shud hav put this chart out b4 the holiday season so stupid parents who go out an only see initial price an think da 360 arcarde is cheaper dan PS3 r wrong , seriously why do ppl buy the arcarde it makes no sense the Pro is a much better value comes with a HDD so das 100 less u hadda pay but if u want WiFi u gotta fork out another $100US which actually brings da price up to da 80GB PS3 THEN u gotta pay 50 per year for XBL dat coming up to more than a PS3.

Sony needs to cut that stupid wifi out. Its only needed for the PSP. Follow microsoft example and have it as an add on if ppl want it. They need to have a price cut if they want sales to pick up.

I agree with you about the core and no hard drive. I dont see how someone can really enjoy these systems without a hard drive but then I know someone who has a xbox 360 and doesnt even have it hooked up to his internet.

To really enjoy a PS3 or Xbox 360 to the max you need
- HDTV
- HDD
- Highspeed internet

for your Information, you can get a refurbished 20 Gig plus 3 Months of Xbox Live Gold Membership for $29.99 when you buy an Arcade..and the WiFi is a neat extra, but NOT needed, so your comparison is a bit BIASED..see here http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/hddoffer/default.htm and as for the $50/year for the Online service, I have both Consoles and I prefer Live over PSN anyday, you get what you pay for....

fyi its not dat biased do da math if u want an arcarde model to b decent u hadda buy da HDD plus i get dat wifi is not NEEDED but i already hav tooo many cables running an wat if i hav d 360 in a different room i hadda run one long ass cable to connect sorry wont do dat

now onto live yes currently its better dan PSN no argument there BUT.... wat is sooo spectacular about live (besides d cross game chat & invites) dat is really all that much better (no matter wat forum u go on its da same "u get wat u pay 4" comment an noone goes on further to explain)

i for one hate wen ppl disturb me wen i playin game competitive games , so cross game chat might not b my thing (an as i previously said in another thread this leads to sum cheatin in games like gears2 etc), someone playin a totally different game tellin me stuff dat hav nothin to do wit my game kinda annoyin

d hdd 20GB, not enuff i jus put a 500GB HDD into my PS3 i think i wud need a bigger one 4 da 360 (i dload ALOT of stuff) , again thats jus my opinion

I don't know why something said by Sony isn't biased.
This is one of the few times Sony ever takes a stab at the competition and the comparisons are legit from a a technical viewpoint.

Yes alot of people don't need WiFi outside the box.
It's sonys bold move of offering a multimedia gaming machine loaded with extras.
Price has alot to do with Ps3's lagging sales... I can see that clearly.

But the arguments against the wifi, psn, Hdd etc...
I don't quite get because I use that stuff all the time and couldn't imagine life without it.

@ Redlum, we know live is better...
Y'all 360 gamers have made it very clear in this thread time and again.
And what I've heard about I can make the distinction myself...
But...PSN is still a very solid service that I've never really had a complaint for.

I just read that the Killzone 2 demo is exclusive only to ppl who preorder it at gamespot. Isn't that kinda stupid. The point of a demo is to get ppl excited to make a purchase for your product, not to give it only to ppl who have already committed to buying.

Well that's one way to ensure sales!

But its not new, there have been other games that did that, or had some sort of Beta test phase where you sign up to get codes to download the demo or have to pre-order, look at Halo 3, there was a Code that came with another game you bought just to get into the Beta online play...Its called marketing strategy. They are betting on people buying into the hype and thereby ensuring sales...

Its a shame that they have to resort to that, but think about it, if the Demo sucks.....they losing sales ANYWAY, might as well get pre-orders in and make money while they can by sticking it to the customer...YAY Sony!

I'm sure once the game is out officially a FREE demo will be out for download, until then I guess you can play the "waiting" game instead...No point in being sour about it...You are paying for an early preview basically..

Yes it sucks, but remember, they didn't have to provide demos at all. Over the last 4 years, we've gotten
spoiled with pre-release demos. I'm glad for em, but I don't ever assume that there will always be one for every new game announced.

did u also know the Euro store is gettin da demo no strings attached, i got multiple accounts on my ps3 in different regions jus sign up for a EU account if u really want the demo
