Sony slammed for weedy PS3 marketing planGame publisher states the obviousBy Nick Farrell: Monday 10 September 2007, 15:20THE HEAD OF Japanese videogame publisher Square Enix has bashed Sony for lacking a decent marketing plan for its PlayStation 3 console.Yoichi Wada said that Sony seemed to have difficulty telling its arse from its elbow [I take it that is a paraphrase.ed] when it came to the PS3.He said that Sony first unveiled the PS3 as a mighty home electronics product and then was badgered into moving it closer to a games machine.Wada said that Sony still has not ironed this difference out. It is packed with a Blu-ray high-definition DVD player and a Cell microchip, dubbed "supercomputer on a chip". This is not needed for a games machine while it is advanced enough to be a hub of living room electronics, a high-speed gateway to the Internet. He said that this lot drove up the manufacturing costs and meant that it is being killed off by cheaper games consoles such as the Wii.
Well Shiv, so much for Sony knowing what the hell they doing... my money's on Nintendo...
No they DO KNOW what they are doing. Its just that NO ONE ELSE knows what the hell they are doing.
I can't agree with the idea that only Sony knows what they're doing seeing as Nintendo in less than 1 year managed to not only outsell the already 2yr old Xbox 360, but also managed to increase the 'gaming' market SUBSTANTIALLY. They have attacked sucessfully the untapped gaming market and have managed a MAJOR upset in this rounds of console wars. I would have to say in the least Nintendo also had an idea about what the heck they were doing, whether it was a last desperate attempt or not is inconsequential, they had a plan and have seen it through to fruition. MS on the other hand... I keep preaching that ALL they need to do is put a simple OS, include a keyboard and mouse and PORT WOW to the 360 and they'll WIN hands down :p but hey who's taking me on...
