Did someone say:

HEAVENLY SWORD!!!!

I can honestly say that game made me buy my PS3...

My expectations are high... And I'm darn excited to get it...

*Fingers crossed it will pwn!*

O and the gameplay/trailers are awesome!
And as aforementioned, lovely visuals...

To PS Fans... Have you all seen the footage from Naughty Dog's "Uncharted" ???
Look's really really awesome!

YES YES.....very enthusiastic bout that. Seems like a Tomb Raider with a better storyline and character interaction. Plus its Naughty Dog so they are good for it.
Will you shut up about the kissmyass Final FantasyZomgIcantUseaFullstop talk? You wont be seeing it for another 2 years at LEAST. Talk about THE LAST REMNANT comming to all consoles by SquareEnix sporting the Unreal 3 engine.

Now we talking!!!
Small thread highjack @ Shiv, being someone better in the know.... the GPUs in the current console hardware heavyweights (360 and PS3), I gathered that the Xenos video card is better than the 79xx based GPU in the PS3, yet the PS3 boasts better CPU capabilities... the question I have is, since in PCs the video card is USUALLY the determining factor ESP at high res with the CPU being a lesser factor (at least until recent 88xx and R600, but that another story) ultimately which console SHOULD (not operative word there) look better?

Bottom line, 360 has better lighting, PS3 has the sharper graphics. Anyone who knows anything about animation/character design and such knows that lighting makes ALL the difference. Lighting is actually what the average person that watches a game says "WHEYYYYYY look at dem GRAPHICSSSSS". Now it is not to say the PS3 will look worse....not atall. Honestly between the 2 consoles now if you dont play them side by side you REALLy wont notice a difference in the quality of the game

The potential of a console isnt reached until later in the life cycle of the system, actually down to the END of its life cycle. Developers are actually STILL working out the kinks and finding ways to get around the requirements of the system vs the visual quality of the game.

An example is Infernal just released on the PC. Yes its a horrible game but the visuals are amazing...however the Animation is horrendous. Just to draw a line between animation and "graphics". PC graphics are a different story. PC's can always look better visually if you have the power to push it.

Example....i downloaded the DX10 version of Lost Planet this weekend and the game will run like @ss at full settings on my current system. Its most likely the processor of course but the point being the DX10 lost planet does look nicer than the 360 version, however its DEFFINITELY not enough to make someone want to go OUT and buy the PC version. With the right system though you can get an impressive game. However i think that DX10 version is f*cked up, allot of ppl with much more powerful systems are complaining of terrible framerates.

Take a look at my final project for Animation class....link w/o lighting and link with. I mean one is darker, but notice of FLAT he looks with no lighting. Then look at the glow on his face and body and hat, and the (lame@ss) plane i used. Its a quick render, a propper one would have taken too long. BTW i REALLY hate animation so dont diss my render of link plz :(

The PLAYSTATION®3 System Software version 1.80 update includes the following:

Upscaling Games and Movies
  • SCEA is enhancing the PS3 user experience by enabling PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games to be upscaled to HD resolution, up to 1080p. Classic games as well as recently released titles can now be enjoyed like never before. And PS3 system now has the capability to upscale DVD videos to HD quality (up to 1080p), a feature typically limited to top-of-the-line DVD players. Upscaling games requires an HDMI or component AV cable, while upscaling DVD-ROM (including DVD Video content) requires an HDMI cable and HDMI compatible TV set.

Media Content on the Move
  • Since November, PS3 owners have been able to stream photos, videos, and music stored on their PS3s hard drive to a nearby PSP system. Consumers will soon have the freedom to access this media content wherever and whenever their PSP is connected to a wireless Internet access point. To take advantage of this feature, users will have to update their PSP systems firmware to the next version, 3.50, slated for release next week. Once both systems are updated, consumers can enjoy their entertainment content wherever and whenever wireless Internet access is available, including the 7,000 T-Mobile HotSpot locations across the United States.

Version 1.80 also allows PS3 users on a home network to stream media content (photos, videos, and music) stored on a DLNA-enabled device onto their PS3 system. DLNA is a system that enables digital devices such as personal computers, DVRs, and TVs to be connected to a network and share data with other connected devices, in this case a PS3 system. This new functionality reinforces the value of PS3 system as a home entertainment hub.

Other Feature Upgrades
  • Copying Saved Data to a Memory Card Users can now copy saved data from PlayStation or PlayStation 2 format software stored on their PS3 system to a Memory Card or Memory Card (8MB) (for PlayStation2), using their PS3 system and a Memory Card Adaptor.

Photo Printing, Viewing, and Editing The photo capabilities of PS3 system have been enhanced, allowing users to print digital photos stored on a PS3s hard drive or inserted storage media. Currently, select Epson printers connected via USB are compatible. In addition, users will find a new type of slideshow for displaying photos, zoom functionality and the option to crop images.

..................................
DVD/PS2 Games UPSCALING!!! WTF?

I really need to get a 1080p TV now...

And the psp remote play update just wicked sick!

And best of all... STREAMING CONTENT FROM PC!!!!

PS3 is now the complete package!

Fine update from Sony

I not sure if its in his post but the upscaling ONLY works on an HDMI connection. I am sure by now that most HDTVs have HDMI, but I am also sure some do NOT. So Look out for the difference.

The HELIOS simplified YDL distribution comes provides a Linux server OS complete with DHCP network settings, support for Java 1.5 and AppleTalk enhanced kernel.

O and News:

Sony Sells A Million PAL PS3s

The big black Foreman grill that some people still insist is a failure continues to outpace its two predecessors in Europe, as Sony reports that early last week the PS3 passed the million sold mark in PAL territories, performing better than both the PS1 and the PS2 did before it. President and CEO of SCEE, David Reeves, plays the proud papa:

"Early last week we went through [a sell-through of] the one million mark on PS3. And we did that in nine and a half weeks." He continues with a comparison and said "That was faster than both PS2 and PSOne. And I think that the analysts out there will also realize that it's faster than our brothers and sisters in the competitive world."

A teenager with a brown belt in karate used a samurai sword to scare off a burglar who was after his PlayStation 3 video game console.

Last Friday afternoon, Damian Fernandez and his 15-year-old sister, Deanne Fernandez, were home alone at their northwest Miami-Dade County home while their parents were at work when they heard knocking on the front door. Moments later, two men were prying the front door unlocked, prompting Deanne to hide in her closet.

"I was so scared," she said.

As her brother slept in the next room, the burglars ransacked their parents' room, taking some jewelry before moving on to what they were really after -- a PlayStation 3.

According to a police report, one of the burglars kicked in Deanne's bedroom door. She said she could see his foot through the closet panels.

The burglar found the empty PlayStation 3 box and ran out of the room, but Damian was waiting for him.

"Once I saw him take off running back, I jumped off my (bunk) bed and I grabbed my sword … and I just waited for him," he said.

Damian said he lunged at him with his samurai sword, striking him in the chest.

"He freaked out," Damian said.

The burglar ran out of the house with Damian chasing him down the road. When police arrived, a K-9 officer located the burglar hiding behind a neighbor's palm tree. The second burglar got away.

Javier Cotera, 21, was arrested and released early the next morning on bond.

Local 10 attempted to contact Cotera at his Hialeah home, but his family said he wasn't there and that they didn't know anything about it.

Damian and Deanne's father, Delio Fernandez, said he is concerned Cotera is out of jail.

"If he would have had a gun, I could have lost one of my children," he said.

Cotera is scheduled to appear in court in two weeks to face three felony charges.
