This is a very interesting article on Gran Turismo HD with information from the President of Polyphony Digital, Kazunori Yamauchi.

He also goes into the differences between the two versions of GTHD, saying that GTHD Premium is meant to show off what the PlayStation 3 hardware is capable of and adding that "this is what you want to use to show off to your friends the power of your new PS3." It will initially come with 30 cars and 2 tracks on the disc and have 30 more cars and one more track downloadable. More downloads will be available over time.

GTHD Classic is more of a "rebuilding" of past GT assets in full HD along with added online features. Eventually 770 cars, 51 tracks and 4,500 items will be downloadable for GTHD Classic. Yamauchi says, "If you count the color variations, there are 4,500-plus cars." There will be a PS3 online store created for GTHD items. No details on pricing have been announced.

A list of what to expect for online features within GTHD was also shown. The developers hope to eventually have support for online garages, head-to-head racing, voice chat, bulletin boards, spectator modes, a team builder and a racing club building as well as car coloring and livery editors, a photo album, drift contests, license plate editor, a race builder tool and more. To encourage collectibility, Polphony is considering releasing rare cars that only 1,000 people may purchase. Yamauchi wants to recreate that feeling of excitement of seeing rare cars.

As Sony has said before, not all of these features will be available right off the bat. One of the reasons for this is the amount of time it takes to create this content. Yamauchi says, "In GT4 it took us one month to fully model a car; for GT HD it takes half a year." He believes that the attention to detail pays off, stating, "As far as modeling goes, I'm happy, I don't need more ... Anything more real than this is probably the real thing."

He also went into detail about Polyphony's new deal with the Italian carmaker Ferrari. Now, the GT series can finally include one of Italy's hottest sports car manufacturers. We were shown a meticulously detailed 3D model of the new Ferrari 599GTB. This 6.0 liter 611 HP beauty was supposedly rendered so well that the folks at Ferrari said it was the most accurate computer recreation of a Ferrari they had ever seen. We just hope it drives as well as it looks.

So, 770 cars including Ferraris. Sounds good but the pricing could kill it. Then again, how many people actually race with all 500+ cars in GT2 or GT4? That was always just a collector's thing, IMHO. I usually just focused on certain cars that I needed in order to qualify for races (FF, FR, Honda series, etc.) and did not usually race with all cars I won or bought. In this way, people could just buy the cars they would use to race with and not have 100 different Lancers, etc. I would definitely get all the Ferraris, though. I have a thing for Italian supercars.

for true.....i not really interested in a Lancer GLX when you can have a Lancer MiVEC or Evo or something else. They had this in GT One and took it our for GT 2...now they are putting it back into this game.

As for the build i played at E3....which was 40% complete......i cant say much....They are fusing GT and Tourist Trophy, particle mechanics but from then they are not affecting your driving...and at THAT time...no car damage...AGAIN..meaning you can "bump"your way to victory.

If you have a 360 you will be quite satisfied with Forza 2....Forza > GT from car damage, to much MUCH better customization of your car. Plus...you can modify Ferraris and other supercars....all those in MS games long ago..they made sure to get the rights for their PGR and now Forza series.

It's interesting that a man put pic of all thos PS3 boxes, but I read an article this morning some 2 wks ago, that ppl only NOW have 1 or so full production models at hand to test.... funny that... either way, its gonna take ALOT more than MGS4, GTHD and whatever else till now for me to spend 600USD and we not even talking games and more controllers here yet. If FF7 remastered came out I would think about it, but NOTHING short of that. Allyuh eh see the graphics for Crisis yet oh wha? nothing beating that in the short term, and that go be either across the platform board of 360 and PC only.

Wintry...to each his own I suppose. I am willing to pay the 600 and then some on a few games, but I am willing to wait...console launch games usually tend to be quite crappy, that and Im not going to try and stress my self out on trying to get one at launch. As far as pc and 360 goes...MY pc as it is would cost alot to upgrad to have graphics like crisis, or anything even close to that. And honestly, I wouldnt mind getting a 360, but between the 360 and the PS3 the game choices in the long run, I would prefer the PS3.

Oh, and just alittle footage of a working ps3 booting up...and this isnt at some conference or nutting, its a final model ps3 given to ps3mag

strange eh Proto....i havent spoken to a single person up here in Florida who is willing to shellout 6bill US on a system like that with those kind of games slated for launch. Even the ppl in Gamespot agree with it, and this is just from questionaires. SONY, like it was mentioned before, is loosing exclusivity.
and they better do something with that slow@ss startup

That slow @$$ start up is not something they can just throw money at and hope to solve. If yields are low, they are low. The engineers will work on it but it takes time. That aside, I read that Sony has lost 50 BILLION dollars on the exploding battery snafu... so their projections for revenues went from 130 BILLION to around 60 BILLION. With the slow start on the PS3 not helping amoung other things. Right now things are looking bleak for them....

ninja gaiden was like the only solid reason for me to think about getting a 360 and now i read this, damn i feeling to try and buy it early instead of waiting for a later model that should have the bugs people going and talk about fixed, etc

I agree...2007 will be a great year for gamers.
The question now really is if you can't afford all 3 consoles, which 1 will be the perfect 1 for you...

SONY's world launch is a BUST. They cut their Japanese launch number by 100,000. 400,000 going to the US and NONE to Europe as of now. gg Sony, like we didnt expect it.
By the By. i have a full paid membership to Gamespot.com. I just downloaded their HD vids of the PS3 launch titles inclusing Resistance, Ridge Racer, Madden and Tiger Woods......and they look!!! JUST.....LIKE......XBOX360......LAUNCH......GAMES.......gg for those that shell out 600 bill, this not from me alone, those that were playing it at Gamestop said the same thing.

I would agree thats fair to say, but I think its only fair to leave the graphical comparisons for sometime in 2007 when more games are released for the PS3.
The 360 definitely rules right now though...I can't stop thinking about Gears of War
