Awesome troll...stop it.  Stop it now.  :laughing7:

Fantastic move by Sony...but possibly a little too late?
In any case, when Uncharted 3, or Resistance 3 drops,
Sony will move LOTS of PS3s.

I liked this comment on FB in response to the news:

http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/release-date/available/ps3/metascore?view=condensed&page=0

A page and a half of highly rated games. Some of them are under US$20 if that's not reason enough.

i pre ordered the headset when amazon had the deal for $65US
i still dont think this is surround sound tho.......i mean where is the dolby processing box? $100US for a WIRELESS surround sound headset from a company not known to sell stuff cheap?

2 things contradict themselves when sony mentions this headset....they keep sayin its a stereo headset (meaning left and right audio) but yet they say surround sound?
stereo =/= surround sound. either way it should be a well built stereo headset just dont think its actually surround sound.

Virtual Surround Sound. Uses the stereo speakers to "emulate" the 7.1 environment.
It at the end of the day is a stereo headset unfortunately.
If it was actual 7.1, it'd be alot more expensive.

Even though I used my current PS3 headset a total of one time, I'm interested in this.

The video does a good job of selling the thing, must admit.

You're right on the money Blu_Vice. It IS a stereo headset. The surround sound is virtual. Not discrete.

That is, there aren't real individual drivers in the housing for the separate channels. The 7.1 is being simulated.

That actually isn't such a bad thing when it comes to head phones, since you can't in all honesty place drivers to the rear and center as you can with regular desktop / home speakers.

Still got my heart set on the Sharkoon's but this is definitely in the race. Would be a cool birthday gift (hint for the misses)

allya not understanding what i was talkin bout lol
My ASTROS are virtual, Tritton AX 720 is virtual, TB PX5 that arcman has is Virtual, almost every headset that doesnt have 4 speakers in the cup like the AX PRO is virtual thing is those virtual headsets emulate surround sound very well because they come equipped with a dolby processing box like my Astro Mixamp

my Astros cost 250US

the sony headset is stereo i do not see where the dolby processing taking place since there is no dobly processing box like the others i called

if i unplug my astro headset from the mixamp and use it i wont have surround sound it would be simple left right stereo audio but when plugged into the mixamp THEN it simulates the surround sound. And the price difference is too ridiculous for that to be a virtual surround sound headset AND a wireless one to boot sony on some false advertising imo

Arcman wireless TB PX5 is 250US also
100US for sony own? i smell LVL bs

Gonna assume, maybe that the ps3 is decoding 7.1 audio anyway, so it's simply relaying the "simulated" audio to the headset, whilst on the more expensive ones, the box is needed because in some cases, the pc/tv isn't decoding the audio? Or the decoder box ones are much better "simulation".
OR Sony prevents 7.1 access to headsets (usb), but is allowing the "official" one to receive the signal? while others need to decode the stereo signal from usb.

Just random guesses. I don't think Sony will outright lie about it having virtual 7.1.
That would be a disaster lol.

audio doesnt pass through the tv
those headsets require optical cables i dont use tv sound
usb connection is only to power the mixamp and enable VOICE not sound

and lol @ not outright lie.......sony and their devs lie all the time

socom confrontation had big and bold on the box, ingame clan tournaments and ladders..........took a year after release to actually get that patch in after much bitchin

so yea nothing mentioned there app makes me believe that this headset is indeed actual surround sound the price is still too cheap.

the headset has no optical cable connection to anyting either, even arcmans wireless PX5 and dvon's wireless Astros have the optical cable still goin to the receiver which then sends the sound to the headset....sorry hoss but the more i keep looking at it the more i call bullshit it just doesnt add up and not for that price das coke man price

headset releases sept 6th
i had mine pre-ordered when amazon had the price for $65
ill test it but tbh i already expect it to be stereo and only reason i really takin it was because the deal was just too good to pass up and i wont have to be switching cables from PC to PS3

This one has 4 speakers in each cup... :D and look price drop... These have to be the best headsets at that price range without a doubt. They work great, I have been enjoying them for months now. Wyatt, yuh listening? Oh wait, you don't have them yet....LOL

... @ blu_vice making a big deal out of something before it realase yes...

my pc headphone supports virtual surround and it cost under 100usd... i don't see why you think it cant support virtual surround without costing over 200usd, also please note that the headset does not support this virtual surround in movies/blu-ray... only for games so it may very well not need to have dolby digital decoding... just wait and see

As you mention 'true surround', I got an email today from Turtle Beach featuring these babies...

Unfortunately, you can't use them with the PS3.  PC and Xbox 360 only.
It seems like an update to the Ear Force HPA2.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/36809/PS3_CounterStrike_GO_Gets_Added_Control_Options_CrossPlatform_Play.php

Quote
Valve has revealed that the PS3 edition of the upcoming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will feature support for keyboard and mouse controls, as well as the Move motion controller.

The extra control options should help level the playing field for planned cross-platform play between the PS3 and PC/Mac versions of the title, which Valve tells Kotaku it is "striving to include in the game." Valve also included Steamworks-powered cross-platform play in the PS3 version of April's Portal 2.

Though the PS3 supports most standard USB and bluetooth keyboards and mice, Unreal Tournament 3 is one of the only PS3 shooters to include support for the controls, which are preferred by many PC players.

Sony has been trying to promote the Move as an enhanced control option for first-person shooters, adding support for the device in February's Killzone 3 and even releasing a gun-shaped Move-holding peripheral designed for shooters.

Valve is also striving to open the Counter-Strike experience to franchise novices, with a new "Casual mode" that allows for unlimited weapon purchases, open voice chat between teams and the option to spectate a member of the opposing team after death.

The company will allow players to host their own servers for Counter-Strike: GO, though Valve's own servers will be the only ones that allow for matchmaking based on centrally tracked ELO skill levels.

A PC-only beta test for Counter-Strike: GO is being planned planning for October, with attendees at this weekend's Penny Arcade Expo and next month's Eurogamer Expo receiving vouchers for access.

this just MADE my day

cant wait for 2012, should have my new PC by the time this game drops so ill be live streaming and recording HD footage  :happy0203:

for the PC men who have ps3 and have found it hard to get used to the controller u now have a viable GATT sweat game, no excuse for anyone to not get it and since its cross platform PC ppl can jump in the palance thursday as well
