OK, this issue is affecting almost ALL fat PS3s...online, or off.  It seems to be some issue with the date, because right now,
my PS3's date is saying 31/12/1999.

Not too sure what is being affected though I just played Uncharted 2 with some friends for a few hours, no one got issues so far.

If Sony is to fix this one, it'll have to be via a downloadable patch that needs to be manually installed from some sort of removable media (aka flash drive).
I changed my console date to the correct thing, but no dice...system still all F@#KED up.

That's the same error I was getting about a week ago, for about four days straight. Well I'm relieved to know that it wasn't my PS3 slim goin bonkers on me. whew!

It seems to be a firmware error. The date on older models is reset, but it seems it sets more than just the date you see on the xmb but it also sets the internal PS3 bios date. I changed my date back and it made no difference but ppl have claimed that opening the ps3 and removing the battery (the equivalent of resetting the cmos) and then replacing fixes the issue on fat models. What is strange tho is that Sony does not roll out separate firmware for the slim, unless every firmware you download contains the firmware for both fat and slim and will install the appropriate based on what is detected.
