'The Crocodile Hunter' as he was more commonly known, was apparently stung in his chest by a stingray, while filming a documentary in Australia's Great Barrier Reef. The medics could not get to him in time.

I suppose by now all the news sites will be all over this story.

I kinda expected that some dangerous animal would do him in. His penchant for always wanting to be right up in the most dangerous animals' faces was a bit baffling at times. There are safer ways to showcase wild animals. They're called 'wild' for a reason.

He will be missed.

this is so sad....

I used to enjoy watching his shows...no other discovery channel-type show used to be more enjoyable...

no more "crikey!" from him....

Yeah....I was surprised when I heard the news, too.
Can't really say I was surprised at the circumstances, though. The man was one humongous risk taker, and probably had one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.

R.I.P. Steve Irwin. You shall be missed.

THis was merely a case of when and by which one of them.

I guess most people were assuming it would be a croc that sucks though.

I suppose from his perspective on life he'd be happy to go out doing what he loved. Not many ppl can say they lived and died doing what they were always meant to do. I mean it could always have been worse, death by car crash, stray bullet, etc (yuh know the ways alot of ppl die in T&T stupidly) so all in all I say cheers to him and my condolences to his family.

when i heard the news early this morning i wasn't really shocked, he does alot of dangerous things and as one person here said " it was just a question of when and where" back way back when i used to love to watch his shows too. but R.I.P. Man
