We do need a better crime fighting initiative though in this country, starting from retraining of ALL police officers to sensitize them to the needs of the public, training more detectives to help detect and solve crimes etc etc etc (i sleepy so i en goin into the whole thing).

The point is, even with this vid, them still en goin and catch them 2 fellas!

Arming the mass populous for so called protection won't solve or even deter crime. I agree though that all legitimate business owners have a right to be armed, but ppl like u and me and typical ignorant trinidadians, give them guns, Madness! Its the law enforcement officers job to protect and serve and lets be quite honest, they not doing their jobs too well. That is why i say we need to attack that first, train them to do the job properly, and lets see where we can go from there (again i had a whole extended speech but i way to sleepy to type it out).

I was talking about businesses, not necessarily civilians. Although with permits, civilians should also be allowed to have a gun legally to protect their HOME as a right to self preservation and protection of FAMILY.

Have you ever been to the bad areas of the BRONX in NY? Bullet proof glass is installed, customers have to talk to the person behind the counter through little holes. Merchandise and money is passed through a bullet proof box that opens on one side at a time. Perhaps that is the next step in customer service....

Training the police force not to accept bribes? Try paying them more so the bribe doesn't look so appealing, or making sure they are well educated and trained. Screen them before letting them join. Background checks on everyone applying to the police force, psychological tests and screening...It takes alot to implement. If they do that, then its a start. Otherwise we could talk till we blue in the face, nothing will change. It will only get worse..

Red you getting hot about the issue, maybe it has affected you, like it has affected me but arming the masses is the opposite of a good thing.
Firstly because of the mindset of Trinidadians, it will cause chaos.
Secondly, arming citizens does not, no where, ever, never, reduce crime.

If you read what i said, and i see that you did, you should see that i highlight the fact that the criminals are not afraid of the police, that is why they stroll in and out and act so brazen. In places where they have genuine fear of law enforcement, they dare not act that way. Police need to be seen and felt constantly. Like how they lock down the country for carnival and crime is greatly reduced
that is what need, and i have no idea why they dont do it more often since its proven to work ! Whats their excuse for not doing what works?

Lastly, that scenario in that video, if one of the store clerks was armed
that situation would most likely have gone from no one dead, no one injured
to several persons dead, several persons injured, inclusive of that poor woman who was gettin robbed and standing next to the gun man.
Would it be justified to gun her down too just so you could say you shot the gun man?

i have lived in bk and bronx for a few years amongst other places. I know what its like.
And what you pointed out about the police
is where law enforcement needs to go
But gun ownership is not a deterrent to crime
it never was and never will be
the reason americans have guns is not cause the founding fathers saw it as a way to deter crime
it was to have the opportunity to fight an oppressive government or invading regime
it was an error in foresight to leave that shit in the constituition for the normies to get guns

As much as I'd like to agree with Red, we have had incidents in THIS country where civilians had guns to protect themselves and when it was time to pull the trigger, they froze and ended up dead. Bandit takes their gun, they're still dead, case closed.

I've had weapons training and I'm quite proficient in pulling the trigger but I'd rather not have a gun in my house because eventually I'll want kids and I ain't riskin dat sh!t.

I still agree to an extent because I honestly think that bandits would think twice if they were made to be more aware of their mortality i.e. "if ah rob here, ah cud relly DEDD boi". That to me is where HANGING comes in.
