- wtmc @ photographing at a solo driver dexterity course Sunday gone, I look down for one second to check my camera and all I hear is a blow off valve and I see this black Sti veering towards me. Manage to get outta the way and ready to shoot again, camera refused to take a normal picture. Pictures only came out all white. Had to go and get it serviced

Did you #1 or #2 when the Sti was about to hit you?

Even meh bowels didn't know what to do.......... I just got outta the way. Seems the shutter needs servicing. Will update on that.

Seeing everyone explaining their techie oops stores, here is one, call was made 11PM in the night eh.

p: It's the power cord, PC needs it to function

c: I thought computers had batteries in them?

-wtmc at some college going punk coming to my workplace and playing he louding me up for fixing a laptop. let me give a brief rundown.

When it was in his care:

*Deleted the factory partition on the laptop & loosing all owner's information

*Damaged the optical drive on the laptop

*Downgraded from vista to XP causing several devices not to work

*Battery note being recognized in windows XP, so I pull out the plug, shuts off.

Mind you it took me four days to get this laptop literally to factory condition (big thanks to Acer's tech support). When I say factory, even ordering a replacement drive identical to the one the college bract fizuked up.

Now after all of that, I think what the college boy was upset about was the cost of everything, especially the replacement DVD drive direct from Acer. Saying how there is a gineric one for cheaper than can fit and a heap load of rubbish. Mind you he's doing a computer course in college!

All I could really tell him was just look at another career path, cuz computers was not his calling. I know it sounds kinda meaninsh, but I mean I'm hungry and I came back from Puff n Stuff and didn't get my Eclairs!

the amount of people ive seen with "degrees in computers/computing" and had to instruct on how to add a printer or to open rdp or..send a fax.. or my fave lol

ministry ojt claiming she has degree in IT and psychology
but had to be given a detailed instruction on how to use a flash drive.

you have to be careful with ppl who get IT degrees. Some ppl just see IT as a "lucrative" field and so go and study it for no real passion for the subject. I think you ojt is one of those.

They only learn the theory of the subject and fail to realize its a dynamic field of study that requires you to keep learning and explore. To do that you have to have passion for the subject.

It has someone in my class (I'm doing a second degree in business computing) that didn't know what a blog was and couldn't sign up for the class yahoo groups. Really sad

Pablo's story is why I now try to avoid people who are not too techie or who demonstrate that they feel  they know more than me.

- WTMC at some lady who calls me at work today to try to pin on me some wrong doing for assisting a student of the school where i work immediately after an accident on Friday last. My "alleged" faults:

  - only aiding the student and ignoring the student  on the other vehicle (naturally i gonna seek the interest of my student who was the lone driver in his 4x4 and was very shaken up)
  - being a paparazzi by taking pictures of the damaged vehicles in the first 60 seconds after the accident.
  - daring to accuse the boy of driving reckless, when the other party's driver was 21 and was 7 girls in a car registered for 5 passengers!! student was on major and had right of way. Police done say student right.

Flipping woman mange to get my name by pretending to be the student's mother in a previous call, when she was actually representing the other party.

Given that police happened to be present when the accident occurred and took control of the situation, there was no need for me to do much, given that I asked the officer if they needed me for anything else (after i check on both parties and marked the road of the 4x4)and they said "no".

in conclusion, you just can't reason with people anymore. You are now forced to tell 'em STFU off the bat if in you heart and conscience you know you right without escalating the situation when they come by you with foolishness.
