by the look of it, he was goin the same direction as the B14, and had to stop 'urgently' ...hit the brakes, and the trailer tried to overtake the cab, causing the cab to deflect onto the oncomming lane, and the trailer comming to 'rest' onto of some poor sod & his/her car.

The B-14 wasn't involved (I suppose he stop to macco), and I was in the eastbound lane, just before Pasea Rd lights.
It looks like the truck was heading east, and stopped too sudden, causing it to 'jack-knife' across the median, which is
very low there, into the westbound lane.  How the car ended up under the trailer (ON the median no less)
is still baffling to me.

Sesame Street DVD is for adults only

DVD censorship gets out of hand

By Nick Farrell: Monday, 19 November 2007, 9:54 AM

THE POWERS that be have decided that the early versions of the kids' show Sesame Street are too racy for kids of today.

The earliest episodes, bought you by the number 2 and the letter E, were installed onto DVD last week. But horror of horrors Mr Cooper, it is rated adults only.

According to the publisher, early ‘Sesame Street’ episodes are intended for grown-ups, and may not suit the needs of today’s preschool child.”

Having grown up on never-ending episodes of Sesame Street, one has to wonder what it was that was so terrible that we saw, that kids of today can't cope with.

In those days it was ok to for Cookie monster's eating disorder to go untreated, for Sally to take a stranger's hand and go to his home, for Oscar the Grouch to be denied prozac, and for blokes living together, Ernie and Bert, to engage in domestic violence.

But Executive producer Carol-Lynn Parente told the New York Times that the main reason for the censorship was nothing to do with anything we could come up with.

It was to do with a famous scene, often repeated, called Alistair Cookie and the parody “Monsterpiece Theater.” Alistair Cookie, played by Cookie Monster, had a pipe which he later ate.

Modern producers felt that modelled the wrong behaviour. It encouraged smoking and eating pipes. Initially they re-shot the scenes and later it was dropped.

Another reason was that when Snuffleupagus first appeared, he was invisble to all but Big Bird. But later producers decided it was a little creepy to have the giant canary wandering around claiming he was not hallucinating all the time. µ

This deserves the HOLY $H1T WTMFC!!!!!!

I used that very smiley when you mentioned the time you were in that 'secluded area' (..till w1ntry had to go and over interpret the damn smiley and ruin the humour...)

and now, on to my WTMC for today:

Some days ago I left home to go to a job in Chaguanas. Got the call the same morning I did the job, thus making me have to adjust my schedule. I didn't HAVE to do it, just I said "hey, is just a printer to check" so I mosey on down.

Looked at printer (HP Desket 3900 series), dust off printer as it looked like it clollest dust for months, download drivers as they didn't have CD, rean tests and determined that priner is no good because it wont feed paper and the printer carriage is faulty.

So I happily write up my invoice: $150.00. Yhen it gets bad:

"why you charging $150?"
"Why not?"
"Because I have to justify this to my manager. I know you does charge the $150, but don't you find that [this time] is unfair?
"To be honest, NO. MBM charges $200 plus VAT and you have to bring it in."

But (unwisely) I gave the discount. A whole 33.3% off. She accepts the invoice and I go my way.

Imagine today, I get a call form another secretary of said company:

"Mrs. [name witheld] said to tell you that she will not pay $100 for the invoice I submitted, but is willing to offer $75.00."

Imagine how I had to pause from cursing the secretary (and pelting my $2000 phone across the Diego Marting Main Rd). After rambling for a bit, I told the secretary that I would get back to the manager.

I went by Capt Awesome right after. he couldn't believe it.
I went by MBM. $225/hr to check ANY printer or computer whether you bring to to them or they come to you.

Members of the honourable online forum of the Gamers Association of Trinidad and Tobago,

HOW DE MUDDA C*** THIS MANAGER COULD CALL ME TO TELL ME THAT $100 IS TOO EXPENSIVE TO LEAVE MY MUDDA @!#%!@#%@!# HOUSE TO GO CENTRAL TO DIAGNOSE A PRINTER???

It is $24 in taxi fare from Diego to Chaguanas and back. you mean to say, if I accept the $75.00 'offer' I walk away with $50.00?. and then deduct the next $24 to go and collect the cheque... So I really make a patlry $27.00 after devoting up to 3 hours of my time in getting there, checking this garbage printer and going back home??

ARE YOU $@#^#^*) ME?!?!?  I'm not a freelance technician. All on GATT who has dealt with me via Trading Grounds in the last six months or so know I hand them a invoice with the name of a Registered Limited Liability Company at the top of it.

I am convicted that if I do a quick survey of the minimum diagnostic/labour charges of popular PC repair companies, those who DO make house calls are NOT charging less than $150.00 [per hour].

So tell me, what the hell should I do? Considering that is now FOUR outstanding invoices they have for me (for which i now have to send copies of the invoices as they lost them, bakas!) I have considered the following options:
1. Tell manager that I accept the $75 on condition that she finds a new technician and all warranties on items sold are voided with immediate effect.
2. Refuse the $75, possibly refuse any further service pending the outcome of this dispute and then sever ties anyway.

As for the outstanding balances:
1. stall till payment i made on those other invoices then make my stand
2. make stand immediately and demand outstanding payment on all invoices forthwith

I reach a stage of fed-up-ness now where if you even query my fees, I sever ties with you one time (with payment!), especially if it's the minimum fee....
