But as an aside, do you remember that a certain group of internet providers had cable modems sitting around since the mid to late 90s made several offers over the years and didnt share them out to the "public" until not so long ago? That's a belated WTMC right there.

I AM talking about the 100hrs package. Thats exactly what I had at one time, also the unlimited and they all caused the same problem. Also had packages with...if memory serves...Inter Serv I think, their "sister" company. Same story there.

With Carib Link you did (and on occasion you still do unless you're living close to one of their nodes) pay for the cost the dial-up as if it were an actual phone call.

Highly unusual. I say that because I had packages with two of the sister companies as well and that phone bill itself came up to about $60 a month. Subtract $30 for the rental itself and so all I was paying in call charges was about $30. The only time my internet bill came up to more is when I accidentally went to about 200 hrs on my 100 hrs package.

Were you permanently dialling into an "outside of your area" POP or through a cell phone? Remember calls inside of your "Area code" cost 24 cents unlimited. (Unlimited is defined by TSTT as from 12 midnight to 12 midnight tho....)

I remember getting a >$200 bill in... 1994 probably around may/june and being told that it was my fault "being on the internet all the time like that".  The real reason was my sister making a bunch of calls to her pre-teen friends. I worked out that my bill at the time was closer to $20 and handed them $40 and a piece of paper with my calculations.
