I am glad to see that for 2007 thus far nobody have any gripes.

But I go spoil it:

 - when people KNOW they gonna make a left turn off the highway and MC refuse to get in the filter lane, instead slowing down on the left highway lane until they actually just about to make the left turn.... the amount of horn i give people for that. That go cause accident!

 - Last Night: Riding with some padners to go Living Room. being  tired form work this week I immediately decide to rest me eyes.....  all of a sudden I feel a hand slowly touching/caressing me left leg. I fly awake one time with a shocked WMTC expression on me face. I sitting behind the driver seat, and I dunno if is me pardner (who sitting behind the passenger seat)or his woman (in the center) who touch me. Nonetheless. I flew in de front seat when the front seat passenger drop out by Wave... Them get kicks, but I doh play dat!!

- Accident  near Mucurapo Rd and Bellsmythe St. @ 5am this morn. A Mazda broadside a new Lancer and spin it off de road. no serious injuries though.

- I finally get my answer form the client who have me waiting 3 months!: they want refund. But I must now wait at least a month for them (the kids) to find a replacement computer before I can take it back So in effect, they don't want my system anymore, yet they keeping it because.. oh WTMC??.....I'll say one thing: they NOT getting a full refund!!

This one is for the computer repair guys:

- When you sorely regret not cutting off a client since 2005!

Client back then make you spend an entire afternoon removeing spyware (due to his deliberate pornography hunting) Has the audacity to ask "that simple ting you cyah fix?" he even goes as far and to angrily argue a case to state, "is PORN people does buy computer for!" and want to run yuh with $100 saying, "...because yuh didn't provide good service."

2006: a year later... You reluctantly agree to come see his computer... he even tries to be civil by remembering "how angry you were", of course he conveniently forget WHY I was angry. Charge his @$$ heavy for reloading the computer he finally and totally screw up with spyware.

Challenges a $150 labour charge for changing a dead CPU Fan: "Nah!" is his reply

2007: Now he has an issue where his computer keeps rebooting...Stalled him since before Christmas to go. Bastard asks me if "I don't want my Christmas Bonus" (WTF? you won't even pay me $150!! yuh want to pay me a "bonus" now?) Man even calls me twice in 2 days to ask me during my close off period, "if i coming Tuesday (2nd)". I eventually reach, take his computer to my home to fix it.

Now I keep getting phone almost every hour asking if it fix, from as early as 7am (on previous occasions if I have to go by him I'd receive calls every hour from 8am until I arrive; I've taken to ignoring/blocking his calls now)

As of this time I ent sure WTMC wrong with his PC but frankly I ent care.. I might well send it back to him jes so, (or make him pick it up by the police station nearest to his home), say "I not fixing it again. Don't EVER call me again!") haul his MC... I go leave a note inside the case for the next techie telling him to charge him though his MC nose!!

and to think I leaving Diego to go MC Cunupia for this sh*t! (3 sets of transport PLUS a 20-minute walk to reach his place)

Warning on this guy: Uses His PC almost solely for PORN. Makes .....um...... his own ...um 'personal collection' (with a hidden cam i suspect) and records to his VCR, which is hooked up to the PC via TV card. God help the next techie to go there.

- When you have to deal with clients who don't even want to pay a basic labour charge!
Travelling to S/Grande to meet a new client from India to recover some data form his laptop. I use a Knoppix Live CD and a flash drive to get this stuff off. Use hi Resote CD to get off data.

The lil bastard want to challenge a $200 labour charge ( I was hitting him $400 initially, and nearly wanted to fight me down on $150!!). Oh, he though it would have been $100. To go from Diego to Grande! in HIS house! Bull sh*t! and he living here 3 years already, eh!! Bachelor lifestyle and hardly limes. I don't know how far a Rupee goes in India, but I know that TT$150 is about 1100R.
5 hours of my day used up to go , organise him and come back!! NAH!!

Warning! beware of Doctors form India! don't like to pay!

Hmmmm sax you are indeed unlucky to bounce up these idiots. Some people just dont deserve to own a computer. Imagine one of  my customers manage to destroy a 17"AOC after only 10 months of usage. I've dealt with tens of these things without incident...until now. Ok sure there is a certain failure rate with these things, but this is just the latest of a series of things to go wrong with thei machine. Every two weeks its something different. She's like..."ummm, like the ink in the printer done...how that happen?" I'm like...when you print stuff, the ink is used. She goes, "well I don't print nothing much, something wrong with this thing, it could never go down that fast. "i'm like...you have children home during the day right?....yeah 3...ok...and you're not home most of the day right?....yeah....well there ya go, genius!!!!!

Well at times I consider myself to be just bad lucky. Yours still a lil 'soft' compared to what I have seen.

Still pondering what to do about the stallers....  I fell I go just WRITE them a letter stating that it was in bad faith to prevent me from attempting to fix their computer. Within 2 months of their getting the computer they complained the computer was not working properly.

I offered to change the board, to which they agreed. In fact a new motherboard and a new modem collecting dust in their house! But each time I call to schedule such, they were always busy, even on weekends. They refuse to let me take the computer  to do it for a paranoid fear that I will cause them to lose their data, based on bad experiences with previous techies. After 3 months of waiting to fix this PC, the daughter calls me with an attitude saying she wants a refund.

The hard part is that THEY does talk about how they does get real mad when people talk down to them or rough them up verbally. THEY does talk about good customer service. THEY even gave me counsel when I had to deal with the Benny Hinn idiots back in August '06 (btw the wife STILL won't look at me or reply to my "good mornings" when I walk in to her place of work. I'm gonna leave a 2007 resolution for her to read that will send her through the roof! It's only the truth, don't worry.) Mother say she never knew the difference between a 'clone/custom built' and a brand name computer. Mother also says that they (parents) have issues wit the kids (kids are no older than 20 and went to the Int'l School of POS). Issues? I not responsible for any domestic issues that may arise as a result of my work... I just want a solution.

Now If I get fed up I go just tell them this:
They (the parents)have THIRTY days to call/cell phone text/ e-mail/ postal mail me saying that you have acquired a replacement PC and to come collect my computer. If they do they get a full refund (no not the best thing, but it is least stressful).  Failing such, one of two things will happen:

I will either
a) issue a partial refund based on that amont of usage of the computer, the maximum being the sale cost minus the cost of the Hard Drive (which contains the Kids' precious data), or
b) assemble a replacement computer whether they like it or not.

Of course it will be hard to make them sign to such....

If I get REALLY fed up I will barge in their office with cash in hand and say give me back my computer. NOW! deduct cost of hard drive. But that will not promote good faith and could get me a bad rep. But dammit man. You don't want it yet you want it?

Somehow I think this can reach court if I move too hasty, but is a risk I see myself as having to take.... I mean right now I have another client i need to organize a new PC for and these people wasting my time... use

I really not entertaining this kind of BS in 2007. for future.. a bloody Terms of Service, explained to the client including costs before I even schedule an appointment to visit. don't mind if I lose half my clientèle due being too expensive (less work for me and dealing with the kind of clients I like).... I'll just laugh when they realize how expensive computer repairs is at the big companies!!

Oh yeah: If a client tells you they'll send you clients if you give them a discount, tell 'em "NO! I get clients because people seem to think I do a good job and tell others. you statement is an act of bad faith and an insult to my work.", and be stern with it.... they'll never send you any....

The best tech support guy I know was when I lived in Florida. I messed up my PC a few times (being honest) and had to take it to someone. He said up front that he charged $75 US to do a diagnostic and find out what was wrong then if parts were needed, that would be extra. I was fine with it because he told me up front. I never had a problem that he could not fix. Plus, the $75 included the labor to change parts, if needed. I think a good idea would be to type up a standard price list of all possible fixes you could do assuming the price varies by the job. For a general diagnostic, a standard price should be set. Also, you should have a list of all parts with prices and keep it up to date as prices and parts change. Finally, you should have some sort of agreement that the customer signs before any work is done and another for any parts to be purchased. This should be in duplicate so that both you and the customer have a copy. This way, if there are any discrepancies afterward, you can take the agreement to a police station/law office and deal with it.

When I Spent about half hour spinning all over Chaguanas today trying to find a way back on to the south bound lane of the highway to head towards Freeport (this was after I got lost looking for PC Tech, although i've gone there a couple times already)...ended up on the main road instead only to get lost while in freeport looking for another place called PC Experts.
