THAT SOLIDIER     WOW    I'm driving rolling the car forward all of a sudden this solidier just moves across the front of the car an flags down the car that was trying to U turn   AT GUN POINT  and ITS A BIG ASS GUN   M16 with extra clips tape on.......... We knew it was road block but we never knew army was there and all that......They just under the trees normal in the shadows.......NINJA MATRIX MOVEMENTS    BREATHLESS
I have a whole new level of respect for them now.

That's a good thing, it adds to the security. It's very similar to tight security at the airport, some may see it as an inconvenience while others may feel much more secure because of it. If you are good, you have nothing to worry about, if you are bad, hopefully they'll catch you.

How does that make or even indicate that Trinidad and Tobago a police state? You don't -ever-....EVER... turn out of a roadblock under any circumstance because you're bound to become suspect of illegal activities. It only stands to reason that someone would think such a thing following the actions of that driver and this is nothing that doesn't happen anywhere else in similar exercises.  Frankly, I think you're being ridiculous.  How does the capabilities of the gun change the actuality of the situation?

What has this country come to? I'll be honest. I don't f**king know what this country has come to...but address the escalating crime rates, the far less than efficient policing (and impotent judiciary and legislating bodies) and the corrupt capitalists of this society rather than being so melodramatic about one man who was just doing his job.

Trinidad and Tobago is a close to being a police state as it is to Australia. You want a police state? Talk about Batista regime Cuba.

(tucks tail) ...i admit i was a lil explosive there... but i've had not so good expreriences with Police/Army road-blocks arredy, and when someone points a gun at you, several thoughts go thru your mind i hope; why is this person threatening me with a weapon? do they know how to use this weapon? what happens if something causes the itchy-finger to slip??

...i take being threatened in any form VERY seriously, ESPECIALLY when it's with a gun(weapon)

you encounter unexpected traffic in an unusal location at an unusual time. You think two things:
1. serious accident
2. road block

If it's the latter, you DON'T try to make a u-turn unless you want guns pointed at you... even if you have a fast car. DONT!!

The point by Ambassador hotel where they attempted the u-turn run was at a point where they could clearly see that a road block was in progress.

the said offender and 2 other cars were stopped and had their car searched.. only one get off clean because both occupants were women... they didn't even ask for a driver's permit.
