MTV from a gamer's perspective
« on: August 31, 2006, 12:28:20 PM »
Came across this hilarious article while browsing Tom's Hardware:

http://www.twitchguru.com/2006/08/14/mmr/index.html

I have to say, I absolutely and wholeheartedly agree with the author.  As far as I'm concerned, Columbus could take off MTV and reduce my bloody cable bill.  Never have I seen such a shamless parade of unmitigated ballz that passes for 'TV shows' on this channel.

I guarantee that many of you can identify with the author's sentiments.

from what i understand , MTV was at evo covering the event, and according to some folks in Empire Arcadia, they are doing a documentary on competitive gaming in the tri state area but moreso the Empire.

MTV has reached the point where it's almost unwatchable.
It's now virtually a cesspool of reality TV and scant music videos here and there.

Oh, for the glory days of Beavis and Butthead, Celebrity Deathmatch and Jacka$$.....

I remember wheni was smaller I used to look forward to twatching MTV's oddities: The Head (and the The Maxx). and actual videos.

But I gonna agree with this article ... a lot... I mean, they hook STAN LEE in this ish with a spuerhero reality series
God is dead.

Yeh, Kenji. Exactly what I was thinking. I can't remember one time when I flipping stations and end up on MTV that they have music videos on. It come like G4. They used to be a station about games but is now a set a shows that have nothing to do with games. That is what you get for wanting to appeal to a mass market audience, I guess.

I saw another MTV station that focused on music videos.

Don't welcome the change of the primary station myself over the years but I understand the need for them to try news things to stay on top.

Doing the same old same old may not captivate audiences forever.

Yes we know that MTV has been in a downward spiral for a while now and most of it's shows tend to suck butt like a remora on a shark but lets not forget the other station that parallels MTV ,BET.

There is this one show on MTV that is like an urban "Whose Line is it Anyway". That show is usually ok. Plus they have some hot dancers.
