Yo i finally get to see the trailer for idlewild that s#!+ look hot being a outcast fan got all their albums and their seperate movies i am definitly looking forward to seeing this on the big screen

Unfortunately, I do not share your enthusiasm. As a fan of the OLD Outkast (pre-Aquemini), this new movie (in fact, their whole new 'image' nowadays) a little to 'glad' for me.

I suppose they did move away from hardcore to a little lighter side but hey at least they not punking out like other rappers/actors not gonna call any names. WILL SMITH sorry my bad.

hahah before my time? no way man. And yes, I remember Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith...and YES, they were putzes back then too. Public Enemy was a million times better. And Sugarhill Gang's stuff was a million times better.....Will Smith AND Jazzy Jeff were at their best when on T.V. doing Fresh Prince. That's their niche....

As for how old I am....I'm 36.

^^^^He's kinda got a point. While good, Fresh Prince was never considered a 'hardcore' rapper. His raps were always 'safe' and appealed to the MTV kids set.

I admire the fact that Will Smith has kept a 'clean slate' up to today. I don't think it necessary for all rappers to use the image of a thug and other sort of shady images to sell to our youth as a good thing. In fact its sad to see that rappers have helped to pull the image of the young struggling african american to such a LOW level. I see all these wangstas in the 2ndary school system and think to myself, why is it that the youth try to imitate the DREGS of society? I blame american pop culture for ROTTING the very fabric of morale in todays youth and in today's world FIAH fuh dem.

I actually think the movie is looking pretty well. i would pay to go see it. btw jus cause the man aint shoot someone or get shot 9 times doh make him a punk. I put him up there wit danzel, jamie, russel as one of those respectable black men.

Even though I am an American, I concur with the American society on a whole being a major contributor to the overall morale degradation of society on a whole. The crux of the responsiblity for that though lies at the individual level. For me, it all goes back to the "Would you jump off a bridge just because Johnny did it?" thing. Sure, young minds are impressionable, but our responsibility as parents is to ensure that they are provided with proper influences. No, I'm not saying we have the responsibility to ensue that our children don't idolize those same "thugs" that you mention, but we do have a responsibility to ensure that they have positive influences in their lives, and that we show them the differences between right and wrong.

An with the whole Will Smith thing i never say the man was gansta like please parents just dont understand and summertime were his biggest hits back then.
as for old school Blacksheep, NWA, public enemy does still sound better than most of 50cent stuff is only because he getting beats from Dre he getting big props ah mean 50 good but he not that good. As for the whole wangsta thing it have too many soft headed people out dey that would jump off a bridge because johnny did it and to them i try my best to tolarate them because sometimes they really cyah help it.
But anyway Whenever Idlewild open here i paying my $18 an going and see it (ah really cyah afford dat movietown ting nah)

oh yeah...and on the topic that started this ball (sorry for the derailing of the thread man), there are sooooooo many more cruddy movies starring singers than there are good ones, I think I'll have to pass on taking in this one. I might watch it on dvd, if somebody else buys it, my car breaks down, I get chained to the couch, and it's on....

Cold maybe, but if there were an actress in there to heat it up like say Christina Millian then that couch would start to look mighty fine
