Dude that BS comment was made in general and NOT at you. If you read the post properly its addressed at the stigma that you need a new PSU. In fact if you read the various reviews its a stigma they themselves made sure to mention as they make sure to mention that DESPITE AMD stating a requirement of 700Ws all the review sites have been using their already working 500W. And also as unknown said, any SERIOUS gamer would ALREADY have a 500W or better PSU. I for one have a 700W OCZ GamerX PSU that is SLI certified (not that I even own a SLI capable mobo) ANYONE with an existing Core 2 or AM2 right with SLI will have the power to run the HD 2900XT, I doh know what you getting so hot and sweaty about. Let me not even start about the specs men in T&T running already, dread ask man like Virus, men have SLI, Xfire, REAL TOPPA TOP rigs in T&T you get tie up. Look at the specs on your rig self. You mean to tell me YOU YOURSELF doh have a 500W PSU ALREADY?

600 w here too.. Where Crixx??
The R600 is obviously held back by several things , according to techreport.com's review , an alpha release driver provides a good bit more performance , we may yet see it get faster significantly in a few weeks or months.
Also.. its not built for DX9 games it has alot of processing power but not that much texturing capacity , where we should see its real power is in DX10 .

Cool flick, just a minor misunderstanding. Yeah we should see the R600 start to flex its muscle with DX10 titles. That being said though, the stream processors or as DX10 refers to them geometry texturing units are multipurpose being either Vertex or pixel shader capable... so I think performance in DX9 games will require better optimzations of the drivers. Time will tell.

well the Lost Planet DX10 benchmark has been discredited because ATi stated that the game was developed under nv supervision and thus nv's drivers would be optimised for it. also, u cant just say "500w/600w" and expect that thais all to it. MANY people have 500w even 550w psus in trinidad that have "Codgen" written on it. these certainly will not be sufficient for any high end card, especially a power hungry beast like the 2900.
Edit: Benchmark was Lost Planet, Not COJ

Well Jedi I still believe its safe to say ppl looking to get HD 2900XT or even know that its not a TV on a Jet Plane will know there is a distinct differenc between a 'generic' 500W PSU and a say... Antec TruPower 500W. Ppl who build their own gaming rigs or buy pre-built gaming rigs from companies like Alienware, falcon northwest etc know the stuff inside is good $hit. To say the avg run of the mill PC user gonna ups and decide he want a HD 2900XT all a sudden, far less to dish out 300+ USD is pusing it. So 500W, 600W when its said on GATT at least is all there is to it, Codegwhat? that's lightbulb right? lol.
To knock AMD a little, its funny that they would use COJ which is pretty much the same scenario as Lost Planet just reversed as COJ was at the time somewhat optimized for AMD as Lost Planet is for Nvidia. So its really pot calling kettle black, even though I also read that Nvidia has an update (albeit beta i believe) driver that give better performance in COJ and it even makes the HD look bad... i've read mixed reviews about the HD... but time alone will tell. I am a DAAMIT fan, but the 8800GTS 640MB starting to look DAMN attractive (that an meh mobo is nforce 4... it'll play nicer with Nv video card than DAAMIT video card <- i've seen this time and time again).
