Metal Gear Solid 3 :Subsistence
« on: July 17, 2006, 04:29:56 PM »
Hey...any of you guys got a chance to play MGS 3 Subsistence online....well it real bad!! Futhermore I suggest that those of you with a PS2 (preferably the slim one) and a good internet connection, should play this...it real f***ing amazing and quite frankly tournament worthy...in fact....I put it over COD 2 no bull$@it, it that sick....

(dramatic moment:hiding under a brown cardboard box in the rain close to some soil and grass...allowing and enemy to pass you by..and frantically appearing from the box, blasting his ass with an M60 machine gun to to depths of hell....GWAR...HAR...HAR...HAR...HAR!!!!!!)

.....sorry......

well imo it's the best online game i've played, but then again i haven't really played much aside from killzone, ut2004, and castle wolfenstein: ET.  it's a real good game just the glitchers really bring the whole experience down.  i got a HOU rank right now in the game and going on to DOB real soon.  maybe you can find me online: SaditicGreyfox, normally i host a room called, Brind Down DA PMC's or something liek that.

^^^^BETTER THAN SOCOM!!?  O_O
Nah boy Shiv, yuh on yuh own dey...

I've played it, its OK, but the MGS play mechanics dont translate
well (in my opinion) to the frantic nature of online shooting.

Then again, I kinda have a bias toward SOCOM, so after I get used to
that control scheme, it kinda hard to learn this one.  At least, enough to
be really competittive.

yea, MGSS is not at a competitive level atall. Its fun though and has its moments. Its better than SOCOM because of the graphics, the SOCOM 2/3 graphics...dread i just cant handle it. I played the Combined Assault or whatever the new SOCOM for PS2 that is comming out. I played multiplayer ,5 or 6 other people, everyone had the same comment. "HOw you gonna snipe with lame graphics like this".. The graphics are muddy, seeing people on the screen far off isnt easy. I played SOCOM 2 a few times i had the same problem but i was thinking it was just because me, since i was used to HALO 2. However its similar with HALO 2, playing it on a LAN with split screen is poor for me though. THe framerate drops, but i notice people who never went on LIVE, dont complain atall, they dont even notice.

but its HALO 2 for me... That game is the perfect FPS online on a console. I really feel the people knocking HALO 2 have to try it on LIVE, Its not the most played XBOX LIVE game STILL for no reason. Men need to really sit down with people in your range and play it. Not with ppl who going to pwn you all day.

Killzone.....god help that game online. The single player is fun, this game isnt designed for multiplayer really though, especially split screen, lord is like you trying to play Quake 4 at max settings when you only have a 128MB graphics card.....it......that....jerky.

UT on the XBOX is complete @ss. That game was clearly not made with console controls in mind. Now Unreal Lilandri confict for XBOX LIVE......NOW THAT is a boss game online, you can pullout into 3rd person for mele attacks....is juss a boss game.

Wolfenstein was decent online too. I had fun with that one.

dammit i really need to get back on live and tear myself away from WoW *geez*
for HALO 3 if they tighten up those controls a lil more.......magnifique!!! only then i really gettin a 360

Well, the SOCOM series is not known for a high graphical standard, but gameplay-wise, it right up there with the best online shooters.  At any given time, you might find upwards of 200,000 people on SOCOM 2 alone, and doh even talk about SOCOM 3.

When yuh see the kinda kills men makin with said graphics, yuh will understand.  I myself find they coulda do better with the graphics.

I will admit though, MGS3 online does have its moments.

on any given day there is hardly above 800 ppl online with mgs subsistence, i guess if the online was introduced way back in 04 more might be online.  but MGO has a real problem, it's the glitchers and cheaters online, ruins alot of games for me.  does socom or Halo 2 have any of those problems.  i can snipe pretty good though on mgo with the XM16. i don't have much problem with pixilation, but at a far distance like on B.Town from the long stretch of road it's fairly hard to line up a head shot if you don't have a svd equipped.
ever player ut 2004 for the pc though? highly addictice.  many hours i stayed on it.

Halo 2.....hell yea. All those online console games do. Actually some people....SOME people claim they does lickup lvl 50 (highest lvl) men on Halo 2, when really the high level men are around level 35 or so. After that you have modders who start a game with you having one bullet in your gun and them with unlimited...so they level up quick.
MS ketching their @ss online....but it slow. When you reach past 35 you hadda de level. However you bonks up SOOOOO much ppl online on HALO 2 that it VERY easy to meet friends and link up.
Ill put it like this. I think Redlum and others can attest. Suppose you go online for a few hours and play Slayer or team Slayer.....in a random game nearly ALL the time, its a DIFFERENT set of ppl. Actually i have never come accross the same set of people more than once in team slayer....NEVER the same people on Slayer alone. REAL men on that game. Everyone on their 360 playing HALO 2 as well LOL.
DOh even talk about UT.....i playing UT since inception. I eh saying i GOOD (LOL) i just  saying i playing it loooong time. But i cant take anyone seriously when they say they are a "gamer" when they havent at LEAST tried or played certain games, the UT games being one of them

sound like stat boosters a little.  on mgo there is the same problem.  if you happnened to visit the MGO forums or check out the stats whiile online, you'll see the name Shokoy as the number 1 player, even though there is proof he has stat boosted to get to number 1 he'll keep on saying he did it 100% legit.  wut he would basically do is make a 1vs1 room with a pss lock and someone else with a dummy account and keep killing them over and over.  another named NC skills, has 2 ps2's and use one to spectate and find your location, and the other to run up and kill you.  reall tricky men.

I have a question...this game (Subsistence), does it also work offline on LAN as well? What I mean is, can I link up a few PS2's and play the game offline with whoever else has the game?

The main reason holding me back from playing FPS/3rd person shooter games online is my internet speed. I mean, when your only options are Green Dot and dial-up, what you go do? From ever since, I was always intrigued with online multiplayer but the only games I could get running anywhere near decent were RTS. I had even spent a set a time with the original Doom and Quake and could not get them running on 56k. Hopefully, I will return to the US soon and then I go be on Halo 2 and others.
