Well, I finished the "Incursion" level last night, in rather comedic style too.  The highlight of this level is the showdown with
General Kiyong in the bowels of the mountain where the *SPOILER ALERT* alien ship is buried.
Not having a weapon, I just ran up to him with 'maximum strength' enabled, and it was level hurri-hand until he collapsed,
with me giggling like a little biatch throughout.  Him and his cheap-ass nanosuit knockoff.....AND I took his minigun.

That entire level was just one big sandbox of wonderful running, gunning, explosions and destruction.  I was on my toes from
start to finish.  Thank god (aka Crytek) for 'maximum Armour' and 'maximum Speed'.  Them biatches saved my bacon more
times than I can count.

As a side note; doesn't it seem like you ALWAYS have to face an enemy attack chopper when you dont have enough
missiles in the launcher to bring it down?  At times I had to rely on the mounted gun emplacements, grenade rounds,
and even bloody machine-gun fire to bring em down.  Is there something on em you can shoot for an easy kill?

try the tail rotor or the spot on the roof of the chopper that connects the blades to the chopper

two weakest points on a chopper

*tip* also works in cod4
shoot tail rotor or spot on rotor above roof

Arc, these helicopters were easy. If you notice, there are ample rocket launchers at almost every "encampment" and in each one, there's always some launchers lying on a crate, and for each encampment, you have a helicopter to deal with. Once you go into the heli battle with a full launcher (3 rounds), all you need to do is ensure at least 2 of em "connect" with it and that heli is history.

 :happy0203:
did the same thing :P

So I just finished the game myself...
Yes it was short :(

But amazingly amazingly fun!

Played it on Medium specs @ 1280x1024 (No AA) on my set-up...
fps going from 19-35
Final battle it start going down to 10 and thing...lol
But was still playable...

That ending sequence was intense!  (reminded me of Independence Day)

Hope to replay it when I build my uber rig..some time in the future....

Good God...
Thats horrible :|

The game was great....really great...
Way better than Halo 3....and many games they gave a 5...
Those AI glitches they're referring to was basically non-existenet during my time with the game...
And other glitches?
WTH? Game was basically flawless..
They probably had a really really really old build of the game...
or...their test pc was shit...

Exactly halo is alot more shallow and the Ai short of legendary is pretty stupid. It also has it's share of glitches and so does every game. Lets not even talk about the glitch king mass effect... my time with that game I've seen more technical errors than any other high profile game for the last year. Yet those aren't even looked at.

I watch X-Play only because its the ONLY show on cable that reviews video-games.
I stopped caring about what Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb thinks LONG ago.

Rating video-games using a 1-5 scale is weak at best.  I've always had a problem with this.
Doesn't 7 out of 10 seem 'better' than a 3 out of 5?  ???  Even so, a game would have to have a
LOT of flaws and inconsistencies to score a 6 or 7 out of 10.  The majority of reviewers have rated Crysis
at 80% or above, so that should tell you something.

yea...
You see what hurts the most is that Xplay probably accounts for the most "review" viewers out of all reviews, i.e. a bigger audience..
And for them to critique Crysis like that really sucks..
Other reviews such as the one found in the current "PC Gamer" Mag..
That mag gave it 98%, highest score I ever really saw in the mag...

And the game deserves it... ground breaking graphics... (even after me playing it on medium specs)
Fun, sandbox gameplay, very good AI imo....
the game was incredible...

In the mag the reviewer goes on to say that every game he plays from now on he will consider  based on crysis, before crysis and post crysis... (I think I can second that statement as well)
Never have I had so much fun in a single player FPS...
(Still haven't played COD4 though....)

OK. So berzerker alerted me to the existence of the 1.2 patch for Crysis. Yes people, its finally out. Google a dl link.

Its a 139mb file so if you not blinking or flowing, take a deep breath.

I already updated and can report that things have smoothed out a bit, but nothing drastic so if you were getting 20fps before, dont expext 30 now. It seems that my framerate never goes below 35fps now @ 1440x900, high, noaa.

here's a list of the fixes...

Quote
Updates:
- Improved SLI / Crossfire support and performance
- Improved overall rendering performance (DX9 and DX10)
- Enabled VSync functionality in D3D10

Tweaks:
- Reduced grenade explosion radius in multiplayer
- Clamped water tessellation to avoid cheating in MP
- Reduced LAW splash damage vs. infantry in PowerStruggle mode
- Slowed Rocket projectile speed down in MP slightly

As for the newly released maps which you can download right HERE, right now, here are some details:

Power Struggle
- Desolation
- Crossroads
- Training

Instant Action
- Excavation (Note: If you have installed an earlier version of it please remove it completely before installing this map pack!)
- Terminal"

Yeah, I'm getting 40-45 fps at 1680 x 1050 (AA off of course).
I'm actually seeing improved HDR performance, and now there's
an option to lower motion-blur, or remove it entirely.  Frame rate
has smoothed out a LOT.  Not as much hitching as before.

Visually there has been a definite improvement.

That shot was taken with a 2xAA setting.

That shot was taken with AA off.  The visual difference is almost negligible.
The frame-rate difference however is astounding.

Performance-wise, the patch fixes a lot, but the bad news is that savegames made
prior to installing it cannot be used to resume gameplay.  I can start a new game from a new
profile, and the game works perfectly, until I save and attempt to load any of those
saves.  The screen just goes black after the load, or it attempts to play the game's opening
cutscene again.  I thought it was only me until I did some research on the 'incrysis' forums
and found that my problem was just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

So it seems that the patch broke more things than it fixed, so be mindful of these things
before you install it.

An interesting tidbit I picked up from EA's website regarding Crysis specs.
No doubt most people who are playing it already meet or exceed these specs

The Crysis Hardware Experiment

Greetings Community,

The Experiment

Over Christmas we took the time for a little in-house experiment. With only a limited budget of around US $900 we wanted to set up a brand new machine that can handle Crysis on High settings. We should note that Very High settings are reserved to keep Crysis future-proofed, just like Ultra was in Far Cry.

Together with EA we looked in shops around the world and bought the hardware parts to put together our machine starting from scratch. While we had a budget in mind, we wanted to still make sure this machine would have top-notch hardware such as a multicore processor or a DirectX10 graphics card.

The Videos

As you'll see from the 8 minutes of video we recorded, Crysis looks absolute fabulous on High settings with this configuration and runs very smoothly on a 1280x720 resolution. They show different locations from the Crysis Singleplayer Campaign with everything set to High.

(The videos are also available on the Fan Site FTP for you to transfer them directly onto your web space).

The Configuration

Below you find a rough list of parts we purchased so you can see and check for yourself about the total costs of such a high-end computer. The prices may vary from country to country, but overall the costs should be within the same range (shipping included).

CPU                 Intel Core2Duo E6750

GPU                 GeForce 8800GT 512MB

Motherboard      NVIDIA nForce 650i Socket 775

PSU                 600W ATX12V

RAM                 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit

HDD                 SATA 250GB 7200RPM

DVD                 20x DVD±R Burner

Case                 ATX Midi Tower Computer Case

OS                   Microsoft Windows XP Home with SP2

The Message

With this experiment we have shown that Crysis runs smoothly and provides and amazing, unparalleled performance on High settings and on an affordable machine that is readily available today.

We know most of you already have a great base to work with, so compare your current hardware with the setup mentioned above and consider an affordable upgrade ? you do not have to purchase a new machine. Crysis is very scalable and looks great on Medium settings compared to current next-gen games.

Your Hardware?

Of course we would like to know what kind of hardware you are running the game on and how it is running. We encourage you to run a benchmark test in Crysis which you can share afterwards with the members of your favorite Crysis forum.

Regards,

-Crysis Dev Team

I guess they are 'mostly' right.

OK, I finally figured out why the game wouldn't work.  I was using the version 1.0 exe file with the 1.1 version of the game.
A quick visit to my favourite...ahem...'assistance' site fixed that right up. :happy0203:
