Aight again thanks for yuh response, d scene cool and ah was just thinkin he buy ah 6 series for about 100 US and keep d rest for d new system den sell back d 6 series, if he rich den ah know he could buy he new radeon now and buy he next card later, but if he like me who doh have all dat money to through around, then yuh know he could just pop down d road and buy someting cheap that will give him some performance. If you know of a cheap radeon with some level performance then you should give him that piece of advice as i haven't really researched the lower end radeons.

Does the wizz have an online store to check prices? anyone know the prices of these cards?
I'm talking TT prices living up here I havent a clue, but it's a pain to help people back home limited to whats there shop.

The budget SOUNDS good enough to recommend the x1800xt like W1nTry stated, however I've no idea the kind of markup you get back home, from 1. taxes and store profits and 2. devaluation lag.

If you want any form of improved tv filters based on ati's tech, you'd want the 550 chipset, only available on discrete cards. If you want decent easy to use software and a low cost package, the leadtek line is sweet. If you want compatability with top end software like beyond tv, hauppage 150 lines. Discrete cards are better in that they wont be dumped when you switch your card.

$200 us for an x1800xt how much back home though?

I dont want to recommend a 7900gt. After it's intro, the 7900gt's had a really bad batch of failures. especially those overclocked cards. Supposedly, the new overclocks are overvolted to 1.6v instead of 1.4v which was a problem in the voltage regulator. EVGA had a big thread on this. The number of complaints actually brought their forums down. Most work fine, and EVGA publicly stated that they were releasing new versions that were better, but I can't recommend it when you don't kow what version you're getting, and the new oc'd versions while safe, are too close to the $300 mark to recommend. I'd say x1900xt in a heartbeat over that.

only problem is how much these would cost back home :/ what do most of you do? purchase from online stores that ship internationally?

The markups vary and there are other methods to get the cards from a foreign etailer. The 1 bad thing about bringing in a card is should it go awry and you need to RMA it, you're on your own. Otherwise the retailers here tend to hit yuh for a good 20% min markup so it hurts. I suggest ordering it through somone or a company that brings in PC parts and paying the extra up front if they cover RMAs for you. THat's the best option in T&T atm. Also if taking this route, choose a line of cards that are known to be stable and suffer minimal issues (NOT like thosse 7900s that Beo pointed out).

The Wizz doesnt have all those cards, however they do carry the 7600gt, 7900gt and the x1900xt.

Best yuh stick to importing that video card... Wizz will KILL yuh with price... (i does real buy from them) but video cards I avoid like a vagrant.

I see too much debate over Ati vs Nvidia to bother to get in the fray. nuff valid points were made. But for TT$3000 (or about US$400 + shipping)
it have no end to his choices. and at US$300 he gettin best performance for money these days...

I saw somebody in the the forum is selling a 7800gt as well....I know it's not optimal, and it's not ati, but it's convenient.
