Voyd, what you see is what i get. i can even show you my bill. Phone/DSL bill went from $615 last month to $491 currently due (it was on average about $650 - $700/month)

but I do hope that when the time comes for faster speed that TSTT will be generous enough to say

"here you are, sir. We love you so much that we'll give you 768Kbps at least at your current price."

thats a dream that we all wish wud come true

i would be happy with a 768kbps for the while too, doesn't seem like too much to ask. sucks that its a 'keep dreaming' speed here while ppl in other parts of the world get their 5mbps as normal.

tstt have to get rid of this whole 'kilobit' service, time for them to get serious and offer at least a 1.5mbit for basic users and 4-8mbit for powerusers

be careful what you wish for.....

now that I have 1mb+ speed with EVDO, my 250GB hard drive got full within 3 weeks.

I bought the thing just a month ago. Saying....yeah, now hard drive space won't be a problem for the rest of the year!

Already ordered another 250GB and got that this week.

but at the rate of EVDO, it is going to be filled in another month or two.

It's either more hard drives or pay a dvd gnome to sit and burn off stuff every day.

I wonder how Czar manages his data with  his 5Mbit connection.

they delete stuff they don't want and just redownload it when they do , only rarities like old time games , music , anime they would keep.

My DVD gnome works 24/7 ;)

Seriously though...I've learnt restraint...I remember when we first got the T1 at Optik...lahd, is everything was gettin dl...but like you...I started to run into space problems...fortunately, I convinced the boss man to invest in a DVD burner for backing up the servers...and of course my HDD :P

So from early o'clock I learnt not to grab any and everything...jus what I want, or might actually get time to use...and even then, I would burn it off the drive as soon as I could, which ended up being at least once a week.

Now, I've got more space, but I still do the DVD shuffle ever so often...115 DVD's and counting...in fact, I should prolly burn off 116, 117 & 118 tonight...been workin on assignments all week, so didn't get a chance to crack the whip at the gnome :D

Oh, I've got tons of CD's burnt off as well...cos I didn't always have the DVD burner...but I left all of that behind in TT...only walked with my DVD's in a big CD binder, tucked away safely beneath some dirty clothes in the suitcase :D

But yeah, it's all about managing your compulsion to dl the planet, then managing what gets burnt off and what gets deleted, and then having a system to find what's burnt to where...for me, it's a homegrown catalogue web application. Though I could just as easily have done it as a desktop app, but I liked the proposition of being able to get at it anywhere I have access to the web :)

lots of advertisements in the papers , ''flow'' is set to open up on may 30th in jamiaca  , we can look to there for an idea of the kinda service we will get...
Optic fibre has no limit to its range , so no matter where you live you can get a line run to you.... major benefit over DSL's copper which has limits.. Also it will work at the same speed over any range....

True as that may be, they would still need to run the line...so unless you live in an area where there are sufficient potential clients for them to drop down the fibre at no charge to you, you better be willing to pay for them to run those delicate fibre lines to your house if you living in d middle of d bush.

Remember, fibre will not be run on over head lines.
THey will only run it under ground, so as Czar said, unless they have enough customers in the area, then they wont consider running delicate uber costly fibre.
