Well actually JD an X1800XT (512MB) is a GOSU card, however it's 300USD... it'd still be cheaper to order it online and ship it in via a skybox. Guys here are price hawkeyes, they'll kill you to take off 20TT far less for 200USD. It may still be worthwhile however so if I come across anyone interested, i'll point them this way.

yeah, online is usually cheaper and much more flexible. (in that you can buy anything you want, anytime you want without having to wait for 19 other people)

Really where from man? I thought i was getting a deal here but if not ill jump off board 1 time...... i check around and was seeing from 550 - upwards

btw  ATI Radeon X1800XT 625MHZ 512MB 750MHZ 256BIT GDDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI HDTV-OUT

my price list has

ATI Radeon X1800XT PCI-E 16X 512MB 256BIT GDDR3 VIVO (MBGA) 10-Layers     16     CRT/DVI/DVI                      625MHz/1500MHz

does this make a difference?

not sure about the 750MHz part....

Hoss, www.newegg.com and to a lesser extext www.zipzoomfly.com are your friends for all hardware, especially video card needs. These people u link up with manufacture only 7800's and x1800's as far as i can see. Don't they know there are 7900's and x1900's??

Those two x1800's are identical. 750mhz is the speed of the memory and because its ddr, its effective speed works out to be 750x2 mhz giving you a total of 1500mhz

the speed of the internet has nullified most advantages of bulk buying for our purposes.

What is a deal today, isn't tomorrow. It happens too fast for warehouses to keep up. Massive Business to Business operations like Merisel and the likes were king of yesteryears PC parts distribution system. In some ways, they still are...for main stream components and systems that you will find in the average corporate environment.

Surely not for enthusiast components, the likes of which we drool over on a daily basis. lol

When last did you see a business machine ship with a 7900 GT? You're more likely to get Intel Integrated Extreme graphics.

That's where the "bulk" advantage comes in. Companies want 100s of those. They don't want 100s of 7900 GTs.

True most corporate companies would buy from dell cause they are thinking about brand name not performance really, n dell offers them "package deals" when buying more than 20 pcs. sadly if the coporate sector decides to buy from local market they get pcs with little or no after sales tech support.

should i post the new price list for your perusal or just send it to your emails ???

if you want it then post your emails n ill forward it.

What do you mean locally they get no after sales tech support? that is the basis of the small business owner in the IT industries  profit. It is extremely difficult in T&T to make a profit sellin pcs locally. Th margins are slim, but wat helps u is 2 offer a warranty with tech support. Its tech support and repairs that small PC builders down here make their money. Cause against Dell with Free 17" LCDs and 512MB ram upgrades... to sell in the 1st place yuh need to be cheap, then you make sure to take good care of ur customer base so they keep coming back and so they advise your services to other pplz.

some of them may be but to my knowledge most of the people buy their system n when it crashes they take it to a friend who if he doesnt know mess it up even further.... and based on that they prefer to buy a dell.

in other words one tech do nonsense n d whole of the tech society get blamed...

too true.

Many of our own customers seldomly come back to us for tech support.

My theory is that everyone has a "friend" who thinks he is a tech and would offer to help out and fix the problems.

Even my own Aunt had such a "friend" fixing her PC that she got from us. lol

Thing is, Dell doesn't offer anything superious in the way of local tech support. So that point won't fly.

Instead it is the consistency that gives HP and Dell their heads up on local Tech shops.

You can buy large quantities of the same exact make and model PC for a business from Dell/HP and still find support for it a few years later. In terms of drivers, firmware, manuals and such. Very important if you are running a mission critical business and need to adhere to standards and use Altiris/ghost images, etc...

Try getting that from any local supplier. Pressura.

Yeah you're right. If they dont hav a friend who is a "tech", sometimes they does feel that they is a tec themselves and then go and play fass and dig up. I've seen people have simple, easy to fix problems which they try to fix themselves, but instead turn those simple problems into complicated ones. At this point they decide to call up somebody for help lol. If u don't know about it, dont dig up!!! U think that i, who aient know nutten much bout diesel engine, go hear a noise and decide to scrap down meh car, and cant put it back up...only to find out later that a bolt ran slack? Hells no.

The kind of bulk that dell and hp buys parts in cannot be matched by even the biggest local system retailer. They (dell) go buy thousands of mb/cpu etc and have enough parts to sell systems for months so in order to troubleshoot, they just need to look at the manufacture date and know all the hardware that in the machine. On the other hand though, the small operator getting parts in trickles, so much so that every week their machine specs changing.

As Baego said, that is a very important factor for large businesses here time of the essence and there really isnt time to sit down on  each machine and figure out what model/revision board it using.

very sad indeed cause we as tech pay the annoying price of some mc overcharging to do jobs that fail on them.....

i did over a machine for a guy who had his pc looked at by "certified tech" in chag

n for the past 3 months thay could not figure out the prb.....

it even had 3 os on the damn thing n  a setup for a 4th lol

i simply wiped the hdd n went on from there......no probs to date

said that the guy used to charge him like 350 per hour

n had about 10 contact hours with the machine over the said time <---poor bastards

Ummm...that's not a video card. Thats on board graphics. That and no video card is almost the same thing. Just enough acceleration for 2d rendering of windows and apps. U need to find out whether the board has an agp/pci-e slot or not and move on from there. The best option might be to replace the whole machine with something better.

@ Kaizen....What brand? What site?
