How do newer games play online?

Ok recently i have been tallying up some games i'd be interested in buying, when i make my beast of a PC. I am however, looking at games to play online, fps rpg's and rts'. So what i want to know from some ppl, is how tactical shooters the latest rts' and rpg's fare online. One thing to note i connected to tstt( nothing new here) with a basic dsl package.

I'll go with S.W.A.T 4,CounterStrike, Call of duty 2 or Battle Field 2 for FPS..these are a bag of fun i guarantee when played online but watch out,they are very very competitive....like "one shot one kill kinda policy goin on dey", some of them men online 'sick'...but u go learn fast.....
For RPG World of warcaft and Guild Wars....if u real serious World of Warcrack--- Warcrack..lol
Not sure for RTS, maybe warhammer or age of empires 3...?

I'm ok for those games, but do i realy need cable connectivity or will tstt's dsl suffice?

Yes DSL is perfectly fine for any and all online gaming.

Personally, I played WarHammer, DOTA, World of Warcraft and Guild Wars online in recent times.

Great games and a great experience all around.

Stranglely, I have never been an online FPS player.  Take my first person action on the LAN at GATT HQ nowadays. Mainly FEAR.

Xenoskazuo my advice to you is to do your own research with the games you play.
I bought Source and think its complete @ss. I bought Battlefield 2 and think its the bomb. I have Guild Wars and it just sits their collecting dust, along with FEAR, Far Cry and a slew of other games people think are fantastic. I totally LOVE Oblivion, but there are lots of people that think its "boring".

Its just my preference for games, just like everyone has their own preference. I highly suggest with that DSL you download some game review vids at Gametrailers.com and Gamespot.com streams.

I guess so. personally i dont listen to peoples opinions. You hearing ALLL this talk about Kingdom Hearts and how it SOOOOO good and la la la.....Now i only started playing the first one when the second one came out to understand the story.
I sit down one weekend and peung for over 13 hours.....the game is sh!t. LOL.....i wont go into details, but the story is so vague and after 13 hours you still dont know what is going on, and you dont care either.
Personal opinions....but yea B. I guess we small men does count. LOL i like to hear ppl say "waz the LATEST games it have?" LOL.....jokey.

well I take my opinions in aggregate. By that i mean, not just one but the sum of several.

They take all the reviews of games they can find on the net, tally 'em up and work out the average.

Generally, if a game is crap, it will have a shitty score here.

If it is truly great, it will have a top tier score.

Their system hasn't failed me yet.  Goes for both consoles and PC.

4)city of heros ,city of villains  <pay>
5)Warcraft 3 <dota mainly lots of servers XD>
6)Unreal tournament 2004 !!!!<currently my own server in beta>
7)Quake 4

everything works damn fine look at the different genres
and read out the reviews on what games you think you would like

 TSTT dsl is actually the best connection  you can get in trinidad for gaming ... it works any online game great  , but   if your phone line is bad DSL can be as bad as dialup, have a friends with  experiences like that..
  WoW is playable on dialup as are alot of MMORPG's...
  BF2 needs dsl...
  CS : source is playable on dialup  , but you NEED DSL to enjoy it .. little tip , if you can't outgun someone due to reflexes/ping , hide behind a box and suprise them ... 
    People's personal  taste's differ, some men will hate 1 shot 1 kill fps like CS and prefer Halo , Quake , Unreal,  some may hate FPS entirely and go for RPGs and sports.. Some may value storyline above gameplay and graphics , while others will give a game 100% because of shiny water...
