I am not quite sure what to make of this, but it worries me a bit:
AMD's 939 production halt sends prices tumbling
Bargains to be had

UK DISTRIBUTORS informed us that they are buying the last stocks of AMD's 939 CPUs.
Our sources indicated that this should be the last of socket 939.
AMD wants to focus on socket AM2 and DDR 2 and wants to get rid of the 939 CPUs. This brought about some amazing price cuts and we learned that you can buy retail AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 90nm (Socket 939) for £93.94 Including VAT.
An Athlon 64 San Diego 90nm core at 4000+ costs £158.57 including VAT. I don’t think you can get those for much less than that and AMD wants to fight Intel even on the price front. It wants to be ready for some review losses when Conroe arrives.
I have checked online etailers like newegg and zipzoomfly, however i've not seen any new price cuts... so I would take this with a pinch of salt. I'll look out for a AMD official statement. You can get a 3000+ A64 for <100USD though. This is in keeping with the recent price cuts... I wouldn't like to think the 939's are done yet cause I still wanna get a 4400+ X2 sometime in the foreseeable future and not at a CUT THROAT price.
