Ultimate toy for the outdoor, adventerous geek?
« on: April 25, 2006, 07:24:04 AM »

It is the first time that an original Swiss Army Knife has been equipped with a USB Memory. It comes new also in a retroALOX style. The SWISSMEMORY TM USB Victorinox is a trendy accessory, a perfect gift and business tool. The small all-rounder integrates numerous useful tools and is available in two versions: one with a stainless steel knife, scissors, a file and a screw driver and the other without these tools, to carry when travelling on planes. Both versions, except the retroALOX, include a pressurized pen and a red LED. The new 1GB and 2GB Versions includes a white LED.
The SWISSMEMORY TM USB Victorinox is available with a memory capacity of 64, 128, 256, 512MB, 1GB or 2GB.
It is also possible to detach the USB part, a patented technology.

Havent companies been offering this same type of product for literally ages now? I remember seeing this on thinkgeek or one of them sites longggg time ago. That and the USB watch. Just a normal looking watch, but there's a usb connector tucked away in the band.

If really is new, then it counts as two firsts. The first original swiss army knife with USB, and the first time swiss army knives have been knockoffs of another company's product. ;)

Be that as it may Gambitt, the harsh reality of this world tends to be, if you're not recognised by at least 1 major brand/firm/award. So the fact that Vitorinox has adopted it, means it's 'reached' so to speak. Many times over, every product that we use and see and ppl market as brand new and breakthrough was someone else's idea, just they either bought the idea, stole it or are just late.

Well I agree with what you said, not that it's a harsh a reality,  but rather that it seems that its just late. ;)  The "new" thing I'm seeing on thinkgeek.com is the Swissarmy with MP3 player. 1 GB capacity, built in microphone for voice, FM recording capability.
