Networking an XBox

I'm having trouble connecting my xbox via cross over cable to my PC.
The connection itself is being made but i keep getting a IP conflict even though i'm not using any other PCs and a Static config, any suggestions?

what are u trying to do connect to your xbox from your pc or share an internet connection

connect to my xbox from my pc
more correctly FTP into it, but when i try to use Craxtion4 to do it it keeps giving a conflicting IP address reportwhen no other devices are on the network.

di u set the right ip go to local area connection and check

yeah,  all the IPs are correct and the network connection itself looks normal with no errors from windows it's just with Craxtion4 and now Quix, there is an error with conflicting IP's. I even turned off the windows firewall in an effort to eliminate that and nada, still the same problem.
do i have to run the ftp program from the box also? i wonder...

yes u have to run the server on your xbox or it will not be able to connect
