Anyone know how good greendot is as of today? Thinkin about going with them, but that 1500+vat outlay kinda high...
No TSTT DSL, so greendot is the only real alternative.

hoss,

Greendot is 100 times worst than TSTT.

If you cannot get TSTT then surf the internet on your cellphone or something.

Digicel bringing out Edge just now. High Speed wireless internet.

Wait and Pray but don't Stray to greendot.

Indeed. Presently TSTT DSL or nothing. Greendot does work aite one minute and flop the next minute (literally) and sometimes the whole connection drops off. I would have thought that after all this time they would have gotten their act together.

Well.. Thats it. I've officially reached the end of my rope with Greendot. I cant do this any more.

I'm terminating my contract with them and switching back to TSTT at the end of the month. And I'm taking all my clients with me as well. I have 3 that are supposed to sign up this week but come Tuesday morning i'm calling them all and telling them not to. Not to mention calling the ones already signed up to migrate them. I think Greendot is going to be VERY surprised when they see the amount they're going to lose; especially the business ones. I've recommended ALL my business clients to them. My bad, I guess.

Greendot has the WORST CSR system i have EVER had the misfortune to have to deal with. Today, I called one and asked her to call me back. Guess what she asked me for when I called back after 15 minutes had gone with no return call? Yep... could she have a contact number for me. So my question is how did she have intentions of calling me in the first place. The Force?

Their techs have no courtesy to even call a client and talk to them and the excuse is, get this, The CSR's "...can only contact the Techs via Email. They have no way to call them." I SWEAR those are the EXACT words used to me just 20 minutes ago. No BS. And the person saying this was not in the least bit ashamed to make a statement like that. Unbelievable people.

Common problems:

1. Constant Timeouts
2. Dropped Lines
3. Speeds below 15Kps to sometimes as low as 5Kps 4. Lack of proper customer communication 5. 3 months waiting for a tech to come check the line on this end.
6. Outright lies on the part of Greendot about repairs or other such BS they hand you over the phone to shut you up.

Im going to pay off my bill and let the month run out and thats it. There comes a point when you just have to say NO!! I can tolerate someone having problems and truly trying to fix them. I wont tolerate outright lies, lack of courtesy and a total disregard for the client. That is, unfortunately, a system prevalent in T&T the moment a company starts to make money. They immediately think of the customer as a nuisance, not as a resource.

Thats fine, but the customer also has the recourse to say enough is enough. And I've arrived there now. In closing, I'd love to hear of anyone else who is having problems with them. I have a list to drop for them on Tuesday with a chronological track of problems. Maybe it will wake them up and the next customer will have an easier time than I did. Then it will have been worthwhile. Although, based on past experience with them, I have a feeling nothing is going to change.

Peter.. Peter.. Why oh why didn't you get into High Speed? sigh... we miss you Opus...

Yea, I really am kinda ashamed of greendot, I'll admit, at the point in time, they seemed pretty promising...but now...sigh..

But soon we shall have laqutel! Talking bout REAL dsl, not this crappy internet tstt is trying to pass off as DSL.

Yeah sure TSTT DSL is very slow in comparison to what can be had in other countries, but presently it is the fasest, and most reliable service around. It is also important to take into consideration that Laqtel may very well not be the knight in shining armour that saves the day.

I dunno what else to say about greendot which hasnt already been said. I locked dem off, and installed a phone just to get dsl ive tried  a couple wireless services and they allstart off nice and  just go horribly a few months after.

Greendot need to  keep loosing their business customers cause they dont give a shit about their  residential ones.

Didn't someone point out that EV-DO latencies are HORRIBLE for FPS? I mean the bandwidth is decent and the mobility is great (although coverage isn't as great as 1 would hope and I still believe it won't work home by me). But isn't the cable company supposed to start offering cable DSL soon? I hear their Fibre infrustructure is close to completion. That may just be the knight in shining armour we were looking for?

cable net, not cable dsl

on fibre backbone

will still have high latency, like dial up ish or there abouts but insanely more bandwidth.

Green dot could pwn EV-DO if they got a fibre backbone , i wonder if i still have pics of the tracerts and pings i did back in my greener days.... the latency from user to green's backbone can be as low as 20-30ms.. 30ms + 80ms (to google at good times) = 110ms... FPS games still highly playable there...
If they don't upgrade to fibre and implement Wi-Fi to maximize usage of their dishes ( each one costs 4000US) they will go down in flames..

I wish I had read up this topic 2 weeks ago...

I actually SEND a client of mine to green dot!!

since then is only hell they getting:

-2 weeks just to install it and the client and green dot are both in st james....
-constant calling, literally having to haras teh guys to come fix the problem as no internet was available.
-green dot accuse the client of having bad wiring as they blow 4 PoE adapters on site.
-overhear a tech telling base about mis-wiring LAN cable for crimping ....( I was there to 'supervise' what they were doing at the client's request)
-and when they FINALLY get it working (needing to change their receiving dish to a bigger one).... speeds barely touching 15KBps.. and usually slower than dial-up; with bad latency

I vex.. I bleemin VEX!!

I will tell them go TSTT yes.. but until they do so I go personally test their speeds and update y'all as necessary.

I make a bad mistake.. it ent go happen twice!!
God is dead.

GREENDOT IS DE WORSE!!!!!! I never in my wildest dreams would have thought that there service would have been this unreliable. I only took it out because TSTT DSL wasn't availiable in my area. But boy was that a mistake. Their http/ftp download speeds are all over the place (15-20k one minute and 02.5 the next!!!). And lets not talk about the p2p/bittorent speeds. Oh good Lord the torrent speeds!!!!! A month ago it was a passable 15-25k most of the time. Now!?!.......anyware from 0.5 to 8k!!!!! UNBEARABLE!!!! I'm actually 10 shades greyer because of them. And when I call them they say they would 'check in' to the problem and try to rectify it and call back a week later with NO SOLUTION!!!! Disgusting customer support!!! I need to find out if I can get a refund of some kind for the dish when I drop them. Stay very, very far away my friends.

Yeah. If you cant get DSL, you were better off with dial-up for the while and waiting until some other wireless option becomes available. EV-DO and Roofnet.

Update time, guys. The horror story continues:

It seem like these guy really f$#$%^&* up!!

feedback from my client(s) over the last 3 months:

CSR atitude: poor, discourteous. and always defensive when queried by my client. apparently they not able to handle pressure.

Every time I pass by my client's office I either don't get access at all or is barely dial-up speed.

when my client had them set up at their home as well... it tooks 6 weeks for them to come. Unreliable techs. Say they'd arrive by one time and arrive significantly later

as for their customer service: it's still rude and defensive. Their comment on one particular girl:
"Greendot needs to move [name withheld to protect the guilty] from answering the phone to making coffee!"

As of this post. I had to manually change DNS server settings on the client's PC to point to greendot's secondary DNS server to get it to work so I can post this message. Using performance.toast.net, I get speeds averaging 175 Kbps
I hear this weekend their servers will be down.

God is dead.
