THE INTRODUCTION of new labour laws in mainland China could mean the price of computer kit soars, according to the Taiwanese Economic Times.
China is set to introduce the Labor Contract Law which will affect 100,000 Taiwanese companies which manufacture on the mainland.

The Times said the law will prevent mass layoffs, introduce severance pay, and impose a stricter regime than prevails in Taiwan itself.

The report reckons the "golden days" for Taiwanese businesses exploiting cheap labour are at an end. Most Taiwanese companies started to outsource their manufacturing some years ago. µ

though I am sure they will be able to find cheap labour elsewhere.

the cost of moving the fabs may be prohibitive at this stage though.

They just need to fins another country where there is mass unemployment where people will take any job that they can and where labor laws are lax.
