my question if i have a burner that works great on my pc

what causes this...?
doesnt xp provides a driver for it?
my home pc also has nero
the other doesnt....
does it really matter??

Could be any number of things...
DMA enabled/disabled on 1 pc and not on the other
ATA controller goin bad
ATA ribbon goin bad
Other software (not Nero) doesn't reognise the correct burn speeds for the drive properly
Incompatibility with another device in the other machine

It could be the amount of free space available on the drive/level of fragmentation, it's (the drive's) speed, and the amount of ram the computer has also. From my experience, the less ram a machine has, the slower the burner operates.

Being a liteon owner has been a great experience for me over the years. I have not had a drive fail on me, not even once out of about 20 dvd burners. I even still have a 24x cdrw from back in the day working great.

I personally don't use them, but I have enough confidence in them to suggest them to other people I know.

Tried updating the firmware? Most firmwares improve media compatibility, but u just might find one that fixes the problem. If not, then its probably time to pitch that burner in the bush and get an new one, or just leave it in the pc that workds good with it and buy another one for the other comp.

Cool. Looking to come out of the Lite-ON cuz for some reason i cant burn faster that 4x (even on 16x media as well as other HQ meaia) w/o getting errors sometimes. Buffer remains high at all times, but still with errors.
