Lately i hav been thinkin of getting a DSL connection rather than the normal 56k since i have the Gold SmartChoice plan. I luv to sweat i think it could take meh sweat to another level(ie de Multiplayer Scene alya GATTERS hav going on here) apart from reliable daily internet usage.......Iam in an area to(Sando... Woy woy!)where DSL is available.

For the people who have DSl,
wat alya went through to get it? how long it took bec i know they have to test lines an all kind of dramaz?.......OH yea is it worth it? soo far it sounding good to me but alittle suspect on the flip side.

yes its worth it in a sense

we not getting what we should be gettin for the price we pay
but its better than practically any other option out there and 100% better than any other tstt option

If you just surf the net and check email , no , if you download large files regurlarly and/or play FPS games online , it will change your life !

PS if you're main concern is cost

, you may also wanna ask about the 3 year contract, it grants you a further 15% discount. But if you wanna stay flexible, then just go month to month...

And look to upgrade the lame router they give you by default. I really hate mine bad bad bad

by my calculations, if you get around 2.5GB in a day, you're maxing out your downloads (@ ~30KBps)

bandwidth is not the main reason for going to DSL , rather ping times ! Green dot can easily get you a 512k or 1mbit connection if you pay for it , but they won't be able to get you sup 500 pings anytime soon .
I witnessed 60-80 ping times on Counterstrike servers on the US east coast , and 90 ping to Yahoo . Any online gamer will be quite happy with DSL .

well how much gigs have you downloaded with greendot in the last 10 days?

compared to my 20gb?

In the early days we got ridiculous speed, but from the time more people jumped on the service and bandwidth got capped, it has been reduced by an alarming magnitude and became very spotty.

pings is one ting yes, but with the current situation, bandwidth is a sore point just the same.

if you can't get DSL and download alot of stuff, get green dot, sooner or later they will get low pings too . But dsl is still alot better , green is still in a testing phase more or less .

So far TSTT is the best solution for locals wanting High Speed Internet. Let's hope that TSTT's competitors launch their internet solutions before Christmas. Then we may see the fabled 512Kbps connection...

I get my internet with green dot. I dont download much but I once downloaded 1.2gigs in 10hrs 23mins and 47secs.(download log file). But I will admit green dot sometimeish

I used greendot by a family member.....regular internet surfing was fast....but why have high speed when you can't use limewire,Kazaa or other P2P software. Also things like torrents i could not download.

Is one thing to surf ten pages in seconds, it's qiute another thing to not harness that speed for large file downloads!!

I looking to upgrade to DSL soon too.. dem damn TSTT mcs though, yuh hadda take a contract (1yr min) to get the smart choice savings though... :p bleh, I was hoping to pay month to month (which is MORE anyways) with the intention that the smart choice reduces a lil 5%. However they say no 1 yr contract no 5% so is 1yr contract + smart choice.... bleh.... (most of meh phone bill is cells so I still losing with smart plan). So anyways hopefully this week I go sign up and in a 2 wks or less have DSL, maybe for the april month.

That aside, in de office I feed of a Vsat link and get up to 130KBps
