Flip's Critique: The Hills Have Eyes
« on: March 19, 2006, 01:14:42 PM »
Let me just say one thing.....this is one of the scariest films I've seen in my life...
Very...very serious $#it

Here's a brief jist of the story. Basically this family takes a trip through this desert, apparently their detination is San Diego. They take a shortcut over some hills and end up at what appears to be Nuclear Test Sites. Their car breaks down and basically they incur the wrath of mutated cannibals.

I honestly don't want to explain anymore of the plot so I'll give my 2 cents.
The movie was scary as f***. I am serious and it is gory as hell. The editing was immensely supurb, you'll actually feel that same feeloing of dread in the pit of your stomach. As plain as the story may seem the screenplay was excellent and the fear factor never let's up.

My only complaint was that it was f***ed up. The level of violence was at a whole new level and it was much more grisly than Saw and Hostel combined. I don't I'll ever watch that movie again for a looooooooooong time....

3.5 stars out of 5
Rated R for strong gruesome violence and terror throughout, and for language.

dude..

the film was messed up.. lol

some parts were highly  improbable ( cah go into detail without spoiling it)

but i agree, it was very graphic... and 'over the top'.. some of the gore was unneccessary, and a couple scenes were downright disturbin

after a while, in the cinema, i was just goin  " awh, SNAP!!!"

not on my 'must own dvd' list, lol

That movie was over the top unnecessary. Cannibalism, excess gore, emotional distress. Gah! Something I could have done without.

But I wouldn't really say it was scary, I'd say it was excessively disturbing.

Hoss.. i went cinema with 2 girls yesterday to see it. It was doubled with V is for Vendetta. We reach the cinema 15 minutes late, so we reach when the movie was in the night period(daz the most i could say without spoiling anything). When we sit down and watch a good 10 minutes dem girl an dem was covering dey eyes, cringing and start to whimper and thing. NO JOKE! i was like.. wtf  and i my face was also like this ^_^. It was SO funny! The girls were begging to leave, so me being the kind hearted gentleman i was left with them and we walked about for awhile then returned to see V is for Vendetta.

But, the little parts i saw, TOTALLY COOL MOVIE!! It gets the thumbs up from me! Unnecessary gore and violence = good movie!!!

Ladies free tuesday for the win! I not going to lie, i CHEAP !!! No shame in that. And nuttin wrong with the cinema, its the MOVIE i'm going to see, not the ambience of the cinema to bask in ^_^! So $10 for 2 movies AND i don't have to pay for the lady = Good day for me  -_-

But, i heard from many people that the actual storyline and stuff for the movie was stupid. But, i think the gore and violence made up for it.
