I guess thumb forgot to post a new pic. I will post another since it has been a week that he guessed. This is a classic arcade racing game. It was back when top down was the view of choice and steering wheel controllers could spin forever, or at least in this game they could anyway. This game was later released for NES and Super NES. I actually bought a multi-tap for my NES to play this game. You raced pickups and could upgrade them with extra speed, handling, etc.

Hmm ... Not Top Gear. I think that one was not originally an arcade game. It was also a behind the car racing game. This one is top down.

No, the game is not Wipeout. That is another racing game with hovercraft and cool techno music.

Ways dred!!!! Big big game like Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road!!!!!!!! I had dat game for my NES....talk about hours burnt away racing around in circles!!! Utter badness!!!
And since I know is dat game...I'll go one up on it and show you some screens of what I thought was an even better game along the same lines...
Had to look far and wide to get these screens...I even ended up finding a site where you could play it in your browser in a Java applet. I'll drop the link when someone guesses it correct. And I don't just want the main name of the game, I want the name of the driver who was on the cart too!
Oh and btw, Empire, is

OMFG @ Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road
That brings back some serious memories.
Awesome little game. Spent way too many hours on that.
might that second game be: Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat?

You got it Baego!
Man I used to like hittin the other cars until the caught on fire, and running over their pit crew
We had the multitap 4 player adapter back then and it was some serious sweatage with these 2 games in 4 player mode!!
Oh, and as promised...

Yeh, I know this was an official thread but the game stopped for a while. I could be wrong but there appear to be more posts on the console forum. It just seemed like people would be more likely to check it out there. Like I said, I could be wrong. We could continue another one here also in honor of dual core processing (specifically Intel Core 2 Duo).

Yeh, Super Off Road was one of my favorites. What was better about Indy Heat? I never played that one. So, Baego is next up to post.

Ok, since laertes PC down I will post another one. We now have 2 name that game threads so this one will be a sequel. I think anyone who has played this game will recognize it instantly. It is a PC RTS game that spawned quite a few games that played almost exactly alike. A key feature was multiple victory conditions in multiplayer games which kept games exciting and gave defensive players other options.

Well with Indy Heat you had a 5th car on the track, Danny Sullivan himself, as a dedicated CPU player, so it wasn't just about competing with 3 other humans. You had to take pit stops to fill up on fuel, otherwise you'd be running on fumes and your car would go noticeably slower, this added some strategy to the game, should you go in early and try to catch up while the others are in the pit? Or run on fumes and burn turbos to keep the car going? You could knock up the opponents' cars to damage them and eventually get them on fire, and they'd move really slow, giving you a chance to get a good lead on them. If I recall correctly, there were more tracks in Indy Heat than in Super Off Road too, so there was a bit more variety. Overall, it was a boss game.

Yeh, Age II was a next favorite. Ok, this next one was an old DOS game that was also released for NES. You controlled a squad of guys (Rainbow 6-like) and they had to dodge spotlights and maneuver to sniper positions. It was one of the first games I played on a PC (next to Space Quest 3).
