Author Topic: What was the longest/hardest game you ever finished? (Read 33173 times)

I have a long list but a few stand out in my memory:

1) Legend of Zelda A Link to The Past - Longest and most interesting game of all time IMHO. took me a few years to finish.

2) Doom 3 - Hardest game to finish without cheats. Worth every minute of game play though. Not the hardest game ever played but hardest one I ever finished.

3) Silent Hill 1 - Scariest game and the most brainpower used to finish this game. I'm not just talking finsh the game but unlock all endings which meant playing it over about 3 times.

I can't think of the others right now but i am sure all of you have your favourite conquests to list. I'll be back with more later.

Tomb Raider 4: the game started off good but i got bored midway, and i mustered some strength to get thru anyhow

Half Life 2: that was a long game to finish, mostly due to that prison section I had to go thru,but prevailed anyway

Spider-Man the Movie; that was a pretty long game but i just played it to dive off buildings and fly thru the sky

I know what you mean about Tomb Raider 4. It seemed like halfway into the game I just didn't want to play it anymore.

My friend and I were going to see who would finish Half Life 2 first and he beat me so I stopped playing it. The damn game was just way too long. But I beat hime to Doom 3 so we even.

American McGee's Alice was one that I forgot to mention too. I only finished it cause my girlfriend started to play it and she almost reached where I was in the game. Since no one else in my crew had finished it I decided that I would have to. The game not really that long but it hard no a$$.

Man Hunt get's my vote for the most fullfilling ending. I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't finished it yet but let's just say that that annoying disembodied voice that keeps instructing you throughout the game gets his comeupins.

Romance of the three Kingdoms (i forget which version) for the NES.

I spent an average of several hours a day for several weeks. This game was really far ahead of it's time and if you could stand the graphics in this day and age it would still be a compelling strategy game. ... I just spent about 4 minutes remembering features that the game that none of you would have read anyway, and I still hadn't gotten all of it! So I won't type it out.

Hardest in terms of sheer brain power required... Riven (actually I cheated eventually for a puzzle I couldn't pass, and it was such a simple addition to what I had already done... damnit)
Hardest in terms of skill required.... UT2004/Q3 couldn't beat malcomm/Xero... (ok I jes lame in FPS on high levels of difficulty.. need to practice more)

wha? doom 3 hard? half life 2 hard? the only hard parts were the city areas with the Striders and having to dodge bullets with 2 hp , but i managed it without cheats.

Quake 4 was ALOT harder than doom 3 , HL2 etc. , esp last boss , harder than alot of FPS games i'v played, its one of those few that doesn't give you an UBER UBER UBER weapon near the end , just a medium UBER weapon.....
think of Soul Cube that would give you back full life and kill an enemy, or uber gravity gun, or black hole gun from unreal 2...

Hardest game would probably be LOMAC the flight simulator , i never got off the ground in one piece... you needed to read the 100 page manual...

Did anybody ever finish Half Life 1?

I reached very far in the game and I was sure I would finish it then I lost my harddrive to a crash and I never had the heart to stat over from scratch but that was a long one too.

Ninja gaiden : Black, the first one too eh but this one was dred. They increased the AI strength.

half life 2 was a bit long, but i was jes delighted by the physics engine it was ver nice also area51 now that was cool

cod2 i have beaten the english n german campaign hd crashed so started over
i beat the german n english again im currently on the american

all veteran btw....

contra3 for supernes <- took me 4 days

mario3 supernes <- 1 week

they werenot real hard but challenging
i rose to each occasion n overcame them

you want a brainbuster? get mahjong quest...... ireach last stage n just stopped....

Chrono Trigger - i feel this is probably one of the best RPG's ever even now the memories of Chrono, frog, Ayla and the gang brings a tear to my eye.
