the CAT was on discovery channel
« on: March 06, 2006, 10:59:39 PM »
dred, last nite, muh padna call me and tell me switch on to discovery
what should i see, but our very own Cat , listed as the fastest motorised ferry in the world

i was blown away.. doh mind it costs US24K  a day for the lease currently, it's worth every penny in my opinion..
and to hear that patrick actually did something right..     boy.. priceless..lol

nah, but i know he flattering to deceive, so i not gettin muh hopes up :P

yeh,... having travelled on  almost all the ferries ( d 8 hour Pano, d 4 1/2 hr Sonia , the 3 1/4 hr Lynx and d  2 1/2 hr Cat )  i was really  proud that yeh.. we have the best solution.. in the world..

anything but the panorama yes.. sigh

hmm actually i hit tobago for the day two weeks ago on d cat

now, great fete is an exceptional case..and i am almost certain you would see similar scenes of chaos in the airport ( although you won't see livestock)

went across then too.. man that was nasty....   but to me the problem lies with our systems/personnel

hopefully the new port will solve some of the congestion on the T&T end.. but still, it won't fix the staff.. public servants?  thas another post

and for great fete.. i believe it was the sonia and the lynx runnin the route; the cat's lease was up ( was a 6 month initially)..

hav you been on the panorama? trust me when i say 2 1/2 is a vast improvement lol

but i will admit that if i goin solo, or with a bird, i takin the plane..
the boat is good for a lime with padnas; no padnas, no boat..

with regards to the airbridge , i think patos did enough..  we have 3+ providers ( liat, tobago express , and bwee express, not so? ) the ball is in their court to provide a more reliable service

up till 3 years ago or thereabouts, the price was 300 for a return trip.. patrick or bas (cah remember) decide to subsidise a $100 on it, bringin it down to 200..
at the recent fare increase ( last year? ) he said nah he eh increasin the subsidy..cuz we have a fast ferry service ..
and i agree with him

on top of that, the airbridge does not faciliate much cargo
i.e. yuh car... the truckload of bricks etc.

simple example with the car.. is like 2sumthin to carry yourself and your car across, return ( indefinitely)
whereas, if you rentin a car, thas wah? 300 a day?

that said, time is money, with the plane you cah go wrong

I guess allyuh too young to remember the Gelting and the Teisting.  Them was the boats holdin it down long before the Panorama.  The Teisting actually had a KICKAZZ playroom for kids (yes, I was a kid then).

lol...thank god I have a good stomach so I don't feel sick either way...but I think the reason u may feel sick going to Tobago more likely is because we're going against the current, so the movements of the boat when going against it is more pronounced then, when compared to moving with the current on the way back...

I also remember some time when I was going Tobago when I was small...can't remember the name of the boat, might have been the Windward self, the engines shut down, so we weren't able to move for about 4-5 hours at least, off the North Coast, that was the only time I ever threw up on a boat ride. Also, looks like the Panorama is back on the route, and the Sonia isn't, according to the newspaper schedule anyway...
