Extreme Lan Party
« on: March 05, 2006, 11:12:27 AM »
ATTENTION ALL PC GAMERS....    for a long time it has been a topic for discussion  of why not have a land party  and as we all know there are some preety damn good gamers out there, but lan parties have always been restricted to one location or the other im proposing we all combine and have a series of ultra lan parties  ^_^ not  based at anyone location but internet based where ever you are no matter where in the world let join forces and  have some interactive fun online there are so many games that can be played via the internet, lets start configuring and start playing! ^_^   let me know what you guys thing of my suggestion if you  like it ..  then we can organise it doesnt have to be alot of people it can just be a few to start but any amount is good to start more will come as  word gets around.

let me know what you guy think..........

good idea,   i have a 3-4 pc lan by me once every few months... this agaust would be a good time , only problem is we need someone with alot of bandwidth to host any large scale game... so we'd have to pay tstt 4000tt a month for T1 or get a }{/\X0r to unlock our DSL for the time bieng ( almighty google is watching ) .

I have ways and means of making Unreal 2004 work on legit servers , Halo CE ,  Warcraft III etc. just contact me @ jonathan0123@hotmail.com  for more info

Great idea but it's not a LAN party.

You're talking about a WAN party.

A LAN party would mean gathering everyone's PC into one location and sweating there.

That would be like GameCon and Arena.

A WAN Party would be everyone connecting from DSL and playing online from their own home/GL/etc...

The problem as Trini alluded too is that a lot of people won't have versions of the game that can go online.

Then you have the issue of people having the same versions of the game.

And even then some games can't handle many players at once. DOTA for instance (limit of 10)

Not insurmountable tasks though. I am sure with some effort you'll cross those hurdles.

VPN maybe something to consider though I am not sure how well it scales. Using a client like Hamachi so that everyone online would be connected to each other.

Sounds good in theory but one can only imagine the number of things that can go wrong with that. lol

Good luck, great idea indeed.

I have an idea...how bout we make a virtual WAN war with a simple game of Americas Army? reason bein it free....supports 30 players if iam not mistaken....99.9% of the game is based on skill and not luck...

I second the F.E.A.R. Combat option, however that game needs a gamin beast of a system to run properly.  I suppose not many GATTers' rigs could measure up to the hefty system requirements though.

I've played CoD 2 over DSL using Hamachi and its very good as well.
